The trans-African crossing from Cairo to Cape Town has long been one of the world’s epic journeys and an iconic goal for global adventurers. Over the years this quest has inspired many to attempt to complete the route and in 2003, we decided to tackle it by bicycle. Our Tour d’Afrique Cycling Expedition is a unique test of mind and body, that will ultimately reward riders with an intense feeling of personal satisfaction and accomplishment.
Our flagship expedition crosses Africa from north to south. Each year the route changes to adapt to changing political and environmental realities and to give riders the best experience possible. As riders pedal along the Nile past ancient temples before flying to Nairobi, Kenya to continue the journey southwards. The cyclists spin past legendary Mount Kilimanjaro and Lake Malawi and stop to admire the incredible power of Victoria Falls. Finally, the track follows the edge of the magnificent Kalahari desert, past the towering red dunes of Namibia and finishes in the shadow of Table Mountain in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa.

Tour Operator Cooper Cycle Tours
This six-day bike tour through the heart of Central West NSW offers an excellent taste of rural Australia, winding through charming towns and rolling countryside.
Starting in Dubbo, riders head south to Wellington, passing through the quiet village of Geurie, with its friendly locals and classic country bakery. Continuing onwards, the route traverses open farmland and gentle hills to Gulgong, a historic gold rush town where you can explore the Gulgong Pioneer Museum and quaint heritage streets. Expect scenic views of wheat fields and woodlands, perfect for spotting native wildlife.
The journey from Dunedoo to Mendooran follows more undulating terrain, with stretches of bushland providing shade and opportunities for birdwatching. Mendooran itself is a quiet spot ideal for a relaxing arvo at the local pub. The next leg to Ballimore takes you through classic scenery, and the final day back to Dubbo via Wongarbon offers a gentle finish through open plains and small villages.
The best time to tackle this ride is during autumn (March to May) or spring (September to November), when temperatures are mild and the countryside is lush. Summer can be quite hot and dry, while winter brings chilly mornings and occasional frosts. Along the way, you'll find plenty of Aussie hospitality, ample chances to stop at local cafes and country pubs, and beautiful scenery that’s quintessentially NSW.
The terrain throughout is a combination of smooth bitumen and well-maintained gravel roads, making it suitable for touring bikes with wider tyres.

Tour Operator GOSAT Route & Find
A single continuous line from Seoul to Busan. The essence of this journey lies in the sense of accomplishment that comes from crossing the country on your own.
From the moment you leave Seoul, this journey becomes more than movement—it becomes a narrative traced along the spine of a country. Roads that follow the river, paths connecting towns and cities, and fields where you pause to breathe—all slowly imprint the feeling of passing through Korea onto your body.
As the pace of your pedals shifts, the landscape changes, and with each passing day the nation becomes a single line drawn beneath your wheels. And in the final moment you arrive in Busan, that line remains not as a record but as an accomplishment. This course speaks less about the physical distance between the north and south, and more about the inner journey completed at your own rhythm.
Take on the longest journey that lets you read the country of Korea with your entire body.

Tour Operator Mountain Madness Cycle Tours
The ultimate cycling tour in Western Canada
Cycling Jasper to Highwood Pass through two National Parks and a Provincial Park over six days is the ultimate cycling tour in Western Canada. An incredible setting in which to challenge yourself physically and mentally, yet find the ability to let go and immerse yourself in the rejuvenation of the Rockies.
The tour begins with a few leisurely rides and some sightseeing or activities in and around Jasper National Park and the relaxed mountain town of Jasper. On day 2 we’ll start our journey on the world famous Icefields Parkway. This relaxing introduction will warm you up nicely for the longer and more challenging days ahead. The next two days see us cross into Banff National Park and visit the iconic Lake Louise. A quiet back road will see us cruise into Banff on the undulating Bow Valley Parkway and the Legacy trail bike bath into Canmore. From here we’ll continue onto Kananaskis Country.
The last epic day on the bike will take us over the Highwood Pass (the highest paved road in Canada) to the cowboy town of Longview. We’ll have a celebratory beer and meal at the local pub before driving you back to Calgary that evening for your flight home the next day.
The mountain scenery is truly breathtaking and the slower pace offered by the bicycle means there is ample time to appreciate it. You’ll take in the views, snap lots of photos, have a few rest breaks - and we’ll still arrive at our nightly destinations with time to spare. Relax in the evenings with a hot bath or a beverage enjoyed in the blaze of a mountain sunset, or explore the nearby sights and views on foot. Staying in the unique and cozy hotels along the way will give you the extra comfort each night that you deserve. You’ve worked hard during the day, and we love giving you time to pamper yourself in the evening.
Total tour distance: 502 km / 312 Miles + (depending on whether you choose to take on any of our additional “bonus trips” for a little extra mileage!). A moderate level of fitness and a road / cross / touring / mountain bike (with slick tires) or one of our rental bikes are recommended to take part in this tour.

Tour Operator Bike Odyssey
From the exotic to the exceptional through Morocco, Spain and Portugal. This unique Odyssey is a cultural exploration from history's East to West.
Atlas Mountains | Sahara | Andalusia | Alentejo
Cycling out of the souks of Marrakesh we head first to our luxury desert camp, an essential Moroccan experience. Then to the Atlas Mountains and over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, descending to spectacular UNESCO listed Ait Benhaddou. Then basing ourselves at two amazing hotels we ride the historic caravan route into the Sahara then the Dades Valley and the Todgha Gorge.
To continue our Odyssey into Europe, we cross (by plane for comfort!) over the Mediterranean. We land in Andalusia and from Granada and its amazing Alhambra we ride the Sierra Nevada and the white washed villages which dot the mountain slopes. We roll to Cordoba for exceptional history and Moorish architecture in La Mezquita and finish with our idyllic Portuguese leg in Alentejo. A region full of castles, monasteries, palaces, Roman and medieval ruins, with its rolling topography and views.
Our 2027 Highlights of Othello format is simple:
- 7 nights in Morocco capturing the best of this amazing country from 3 carefully chosen locations.
- Then fly to Europe and spend 10 nights in 4 carefully chosen locations in Spain and Portugal through Andalusia and Alentejo.
- Daily multiple cycling options for easier and more challenging routes, making this accessible to all rider levels.
Tour highlights
- Mesmerising Marrakesh! A royal city of Morocco with so much to experience
- A magic 5* luxury Desert Camp in the Agafay Desert - a unique Moroccan experience
- Spectacular UNESCO gem Ait Benhaddou which rises out of the desert
- The Berber villages and stunning Atlas Mountains - perfect riding and exploration
- The Tizi-n-Tichka (2,260m) - an awe-inspiring switchback-filled pass into the High Atlas
- The Sahara desert, a unique ride from the Atlas into the dunes - an unforgettable day on the bike
- The souks (markets) in every town and village including Jemaa el-Fnaa - the heart of Marrakesh
- Both the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorge. Very few are lucky enough to ride one of these - we ride both in two genuinely unforgettable days on the bike. This is adventure road riding at its very best.
- The exceptional cuisine! Subtle spices and intriguing flavour combinations make Moroccan food one of the best cuisines in the world
- The exceptional stays - Riads, luxury desert camps and 5* hotels in the rugged Atlas - exotic, luxurious and historic! For example the gorgeous Eden Boutique Hotel or Berber Palace, where actors stayed while filming Gladiator and the more recent The Odyssey!
- The best of Andalusia - from Granada to Cordoba, as well as one of the regions most intriguing attractions is the notion of duende, the elusive spirit that douses much of Spanish art, especially Flamenco. It translates as a moment of heightened emotion that takes you out of yourself, and we will find this on and off the bike in this special region.
- Moorish Heritage in Spain - including the spectacular hilltop fortress of the Alhambra in Granada with its beautiful backdrop of the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the Great Mosque of Córdoba - built in 784!
- Spectacular cycling in the Sierra Nevada (also Cadel Evan's training grounds) with the beautiful white washed villages of the Alpujarras - Capileira, Bubión, Lanjaron and more.
- Tapas Bars and live Flamenco...after all Andalusia is where Flamenco was born!
- The Alentejo region - rolling vine-clad hills, white washed villages, magnificent medieval and Roman villages. The best cycling territory in the country of Portugal.
- Beautiful Evora, a UNESCO Heritage site and one of Portugal’s best preserved medieval towns which also contains some of the country's best Roman ruins, notably the spectacular Temple of Diana.
- Magnificent Monsaraz, the focus of one of our best rides in Europe and a charming hilltop fortress now surrounded by vines which make some of Portugal's best wine.
- The food and wine of Alentejo. It produces half the countries wine and serves its most renowned dishes.

Join this self-powered caravan through ancient Asian empires along the world’s most famous trading route
Read the article with the exciting changes for 2027.
Our self-powered caravan begins in Beijing, China, the political and cultural centre of China and crosses mysterious lands, fiery deserts, and forbidding mountains. Almost 15 weeks later riders will arrive in Istanbul, the majestic capital of Byzantium, the Roman Empire, the Ottomans and now the Republic of Turkey. The route follows the Silk Road northwest before dropping back south in Central Asia. Included are visits to destinations definitely off the beaten track - the Pamir Highway in Tajikistan where riders will climb to over 4600 meters and cycle across the 'Roof of the World' and distant Mongolia, where riders will cycle along ancient trading routes through the vast steppes and meet the country's nomadic people, experiencing their age-old traditions.
Silk Route participants will ride to the mystical Central Asian cities of Samarkand and Bukhara and camp amongst the stunning meadows, rivers and peaks of Kyrgyzstan. There are points where quietness pervades and where the original travellers of the Silk Route seem to be just beyond the next hill, beckoning cyclists further along this arduous trek. Time and time again, riders will be amazed at the layers of history emerging from the sand, shake their heads at all that has been lost and take heart from all that is being preserved and created. Tour Operator Bike Odyssey
Rising like a storm out of the sparkling canals of Copenhagen to a crescendo among the epic fjords, snowy peaks and roaring waterfalls of Norway.
Invaders, predators, barbarians – the Vikings are often portrayed as one-dimensional warriors whose achievements include little more than plundering and raiding. But from where did the Vikings originate? In 793, terror descended on the coast of Northumbria as armed raiders attacked the defenceless monastery of St Cuthbert on Lindisfarne. The terrified monks watched helplessly as the invaders made off with a haul of treasure and a clutch of captives. It was the first recorded raid by the Vikings, seaborne pirates from Scandinavia who would prey on coastal communities in north-western Europe for more than two centuries and create for themselves a reputation as fierce and pitiless warriors. We will journey into their heartland.
Building into the Odyssey we roll out of Copenhagen, against the flow of commuters of which 50% travel by bike. Leaving the Michelin Star capital of the world (which of course we will experience) we ride towards UNESCO Roskilde, home of Viking longships and gateway to the Isefjord where charming villages dot meadows that gently roll down to the lake. Crossing to one of Europe's cultural hubs Aarhus, we continue our journey which grows each day in ambition - Denmark is the flat cycling king of Europe and we will enjoy this tempo - knowing that ahead, once we cross the Kattegat (North Sea) the terrain will change. The Vikings raided all of Europe from these lands and their remnants are everywhere to be seen from shipyards to burial grounds, to Viking villages - we will travel with history as we board our own vessel to cross to Norway!
Landing in Kristiansand we know we have changed land formations as the hills grow and the waterfalls gush around us. We skirt the North Sea, via the amazing Under - a restaurant literally under the sea! Heading north we descend the 27 switchbacks of Lysebotn - this is a road that needs to be seen to be believed. Hitting the Lysefjord we take the breathtaking hike to Preikestolen - a rock lookout hanging out above the fjord - a terrifying sight, especially when tourists line the edges! We end our Stage 1 journey sailing into Bergen - as Vikings did centuries ago - it makes the perfect changeover point with its smorgasbord of restaurants, museums and heritage waterfront.
Stage 2 and the fjord expedition begins in earnest! With, of course, the best of rewards - epic roads, views and scenery, great hotels, restaurants and experiences. The Fjords of Norway are some of the most dramatic landforms on earth which makes this region a genuine marvel for road cyclists. Many are World Heritage listed and we ride along the best of them springboarding from one sparkling waterway to the next over amazing switchbacked roads past roaring waterfalls and pretty villages. Our journey begins as we boat along our first stage 2 fjord out of Bergen, heading east along the Hardangerfjord where we jump on our bikes. You'll have to concentrate hard as the views are spectacular! From Viking-built churches to cycling under the Skjervsfossen waterfalls, these are great riding days. At adventure capital Voss, we turn north boarding a boat to bridge the kilometre-deep spectacular Sognefjord heading into the Sognefjellet Mountains. The snowy peaks grow as we head to Grotti (which is very much not!) where we take you on a little diversion into our favourite local corner of this epic cycling region - see highlights below. Then back on the road the Dalsnibba and Geirangerfjord await - amazing scenery and must-sees in Norway - one of many on just this day on the bike as the Trollstigen 'Troll's path' lies ahead! Known as Norway's Alpe d'Huez we will ride down it (and back up if you are super keen!) before finishing our epic journey along the Atlantic Ocean road to beautiful Alesund.

A seven-day cycling tour back in time
Newfoundland has given the world many firsts: It was here that Marconi received the first transatlantic radio signal; here that Alcock and Brown launched the first transatlantic flight to Paris; here that scientists discovered proof that the continents drift. Geologists are perpetually fascinated with the Tablelands, where the earth’s mantle is forced to the surface by tremendous tectonic pressures, and once you experience this terrain you will be, too.
Our Newfoundland bicycle tour is one of our favorites! This is the far east of the western world, where science and beauty collide to provide a land that is both breathtaking and humbling, too. It’s that austere, unspoiled beauty that defines this great place: Enormous lakes — or ponds, as the locals call them — were carved by massive prehistoric glaciers, are surrounded by dramatic cliffs extending 2,000 feet above the water. The rocky coast, explored by Vikings more than 1,000 years ago, the rough wilderness, the ocean, and its sweeping vistas, the world’s friendliest people — this is the Newfoundland that we want you to meet!
