Red Train to St. Moritz and then cycling to Como Lake and Milan
This unique route takes you by bike from Switzerland to Italy, from the Alps to Milano, passing through Lake Como. From the start, you will enjoy a spectacular panoramic view on the Bernina Express red train, which will take you from St. Moritz to Tirano. The “Sentiero Valtellina”, the bike path that crosses the valley to Colico, offers a marvellous view of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains.Another unforgettable experience will be the boat ride to Bellagio, the “pearl of the lake,” where you can relax and enjoy the charming atmosphere before continuing your journey to Lecco. From there, you’ll cycle along the Adda River, heading towards Vaprio d’Adda, located on the border between the provinces of Milan and Bergamo.
After leaving the river behind, the route follows the Martesana Canal cycle path. Along the way, you’ll pass historic power plants, which were among the first to supply electricity to the city of Milan.
The genius of Leonardo da Vinci is said to have designed part of this channel. The landscape that accompanies you in Milano is a bit unexpected and characterized by farmhouses, magnificent villas, piers, old rural houses and villages, surrounded by landscaped gardens.
