Cycle Korea: From Seoul to Jeju – A Cross-Country Adventure

This extraordinary cycling tour spans the full length of South Korea, from the vibrant capital of Seoul to the volcanic island of Jeju. It’s more than just a ride — it’s a cultural, scenic, and culinary exploration of a nation rich in contrasts. Over the course of this journey, you’ll traverse mountain passes, explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites, roll through peaceful riverside bike paths, and savor the beauty of Korea’s east coast before hopping on a ferry to your final destination: Jeju Island.

The tour begins in Seoul, riding along the Han River and heading southeast through Yangpyeong and Chungju. You'll climb over the scenic Ihwaryeong Pass before descending into the quiet mountain town of Mungyeong. From there, you follow the Nakdonggang bike path to Andong, where traditional hanok houses and rich cultural heritage await. After a day of rest, enjoy a cultural walking tour of Hahoe Village — a rare glimpse into Korea’s Confucian roots and folk traditions.

As you continue southward, the landscape changes dramatically. Cycle through the quiet beauty of Cheongsong and climb into Juwangsan National Park — a UNESCO Global Geopark known for its dramatic cliffs, deep valleys, and crystal-clear streams. After a rewarding descent, arrive in Yeongdeok, Korea’s famous snow crab capital, and treat yourself to a fresh seafood feast. The following days lead you along the East Coast bike path through charming coastal towns like Pohang and into Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla Kingdom. Here, rest in a boutique hanok hotel and take time to explore its temples, tombs, and historic streets.

From Gyeongju, board a KTX to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Enjoy a half-day cultural tour through Gamcheon Culture Village, Jagalchi Fish Market, and Nampo-dong, followed by a free evening in vibrant Haeundae. The next day, transfer to Sacheon Port and take the overnight ferry to Jeju with your bicycle. On Jeju Island, cycle around the coast, passing lava cliffs, beaches, tangerine orchards, and fishing villages. The tour ends in Jeju City with a farewell celebration — a perfect ending to an unforgettable cross-country journey.
