Summer in Lake Champlain Valley

This Vermont bike tour in the Lake Champlain Valley kicks off with a picnic lunch on the charming Vergennes village green, perched above a waterfall. From here, this classic route – recognized by Frommer’s as one of the “Ten Best in the World” – follows country roads and the lakeshore to reveal the best of Vermont’s Green Mountains and New York’s Adirondacks. Ride through one of the longest covered bridges in the state and visit the Stephen A. Douglas Museum. Cycle through Bristol to the tiny hamlet of Lincoln, where you can cool off with a dip in the local swimming hole. Continue to the iconic New England college town of Middlebury to meet the beautiful horses at the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm, home to the most highly regarded breeding stock in the world. Follow Vermont’s longest river, Otter Creek, as you make your way back to the shores of Lake Champlain and the gorgeous Basin Harbor Club.
