A relaxed ride, but still a true adventure
Our private adventure tour at Loch Leven is an easy to moderate tour, open to families with kids, beginners or cyclists want a relaxed ride, but still want to taste true adventure!
It’s less than an hour drive from Edinburgh to Kinross in Perth, where on the east side of the city, at the National Nature reserve, lies the famous Loch Leven – the largest loch in the lowlands. The stunning “Loch Leven Castle” where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567, can be reached by ferry, operated from Kinross by Historic Scotland during the summer months.
We can stop at the cafe for some refreshments, before we start the loop around the Loch with our bicycle.
The journey is amazing, with 90% on gravel path or easy, flat off-road, plenty of stops for fantastic views and historical sites.
The Loch is surrounded by beautiful hills and wildlife. On one side of the natural reserve you can stop for birds watching. During the winter time Loch Leven can be home to over 35,000. These birds migrate to Loch Leven from a variety of places, such as Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Siberia and northern and central Europe.
