From Rothenburg to Regensburg

This bike trip will lead you along the Altmühl, all the way to the point where it flows into the Danube and further into one of Germany’s prettiest cities. You will be cycling alongside rock formations, through juniper heathers and along the shores of the Franconian lake district. While you are on your travels, why not stop and explore a limestone cave, the ancient archaeopteryx, traverse the Limes, the former frontier of the Roman Empire or sample the offerings of the oldest monastery brewery in the world. A ferry will take you through the Danube breakthrough, after which you’ll be cycling the last few miles to the UNESCO world heritage site that is the city of Regensburg, concluding your tour along the Altmühl Cycle Path.
