Sukhothai to Chiang Mai eBike Tour

This eight-day eBike ride links Bangkok and Chiang Mai through Thailand's historic heartland, where broad rice fields, canal country, old kingdoms and market towns unfold on roads so level and easy that the pace never needs to rush. A morning shuttle from Bangkok leads to the 100-year-old Sam Chuk market and its wooden shophouses, before riders follow canals and khlongs to Uthai Thani and a restored former private school turned boutique hotel.

The route then crosses rice paddies and tapioca farms to the karst peaks of Khao Nor and Khao Keaw, where monkey troops gather and an evening bat exodus pours from the caves. Riders join the Mae Ping River to reach Kamphaeng Phet, a vassal kingdom from 700 years ago, with dinner at a long-standing night market eatery, before exploring its forest park temple ruins, a marble carving area and, in season, sugar palm candy making on the way to Sukhothai.

A free day in Sukhothai allows time for an optional guided eBike tour of the Historical Park, the National Museum or simply the pool. The final rides pass rice paddies and forests to the ornate teak temples of Wat Phiphat Mongkhon, then climb gently through the hills past Thoen and Li before a shuttle to Chiang Mai for a farewell riverside dinner and a night in the Old City. Bilingual guides, a support van, spare eBike batteries and family-style Thai meals accompany the group throughout.

Surface and terrain:
Well-paved, quiet rural roads, often with wide shoulders. Terrain is flat for most of the tour, becoming rolling with some climbs on the final riding day into the hills near Thoen. Daily distances 65-75 km across 6 riding days, plus an optional 20 km on the free day.

Weather:
Best season is October to February, with warm days in the upper 20s to low 30s C and cooler nights. Mornings and evenings in the hills can feel crisp.
