Nine days crossing Southern Thailand from Surat Thani to Krabi, threading through karst valleys, plantations and coastal villages.

Southern Thailand Coast to Coast crosses the Thai peninsula from Surat Thani on the Gulf of Thailand to Krabi on the Andaman Sea, riding quiet two-lane roads through dramatic karst limestone country, rubber and palm plantations, and working villages. Over five cycling days covering roughly 323 km, the route builds from flat farmland riding to a boat transfer and floating resort stay on Chiew Larn Lake, where a rest day is spent kayaking to Crystal Cave.

Riding resumes past a wildlife sanctuary and temples, then continues to the community-tourism village of Laem Sak before finishing among more karst scenery at Ao Nang Beach. Accommodation is a handpicked run of boutique Thai stays, including the floating lake resort, with meals showcasing bold southern Thai flavours throughout. Local guides and a support van run the whole way, making this a moderate-difficulty tour built around cultural immersion as much as scenery.

Highlights:

  • Ride through dramatic karst limestone country between Surat Thani and Krabi
  • Overnight in floating rooms on Chiew Larn Lake and explore Crystal Cave by kayak
  • Pass through rubber, palm oil and pineapple plantations and traditional southern villages
  • Visit temples (Wat Singh, Wat Rat Uppatham) and a wildlife sanctuary
  • Experience community tourism at Laem Sak, including a soft-shell crab nursery and orchid restoration, before finishing at Ao Nang Beach

Surface and terrain:

Riding is entirely on quiet, sealed two-lane rural roads. Terrain is mostly flat to gently rolling, with small hills on two of the five cycling days (through farmland/plantation country and near the wildlife sanctuary). eBikes are available as an upgrade for riders who want extra assistance on the hillier days.

Weather:

Warm tropical riding conditions, upper 20s–low 30s°C

Suitable for:

Riders of moderate fitness comfortable with daily distances of 56–70 km on quiet roads, more interested in cultural and scenic immersion than a high-mileage challenge.
