Moorea & the Leeward Islands

Twelve days of island cycling unfold across French Polynesia's Society Islands, from Mo'orea's lush bays to the cultural heart of Ra'iatea and the lagoon light of Bora Bora, at a pace that matches island life itself. After a first day exploring Papeete's market and waterfront, riders take the ferry to Mo'orea for a bike fitting and a gentle warm-up ride around Cook's Bay, followed by a full island loop past historic Marae Titiroa and the Belvedere Overlook.

A short ride back to the ferry returns riders to Papeete for dinner at the Roulettes food trucks, before a ferry carries them on to Huahine to visit ancient marae and stone fish traps, then a free day on Huahine-Iti for the beach and optional water activities. The route continues to Ra'iatea with a gentle spin from Uturoa, a ride north along quiet roads and coral-sand edges to Opoa Bay, and a free day with the option of a vanilla farm visit or a 24-mile ridge ride.

The final stretch rides back toward Uturoa via the sacred Marae Taputapuatea before a ferry delivers riders to Bora Bora, the "Pearl of the Pacific," for an easy island loop with lagoon views. Riders stay ashore throughout in handpicked boutique lodges, including overwater bungalows on Bora Bora, travelling by local ferries for a grounded, local perspective rather than basing the trip on a cruise ship.

Main routes are paved and mostly coastal, flat with occasional short climbs over volcanic ridges, plus one moderate optional ridge climb on Ra'iatea. Side trips may use coral sand or smaller local roads. Daily distances 7-36 miles (11-59 km) across 8 riding days.

Warm and tropical with intense sun, tempered by shade, ocean breezes and early starts. Season runs March to November.
