We start by crossing the Southern Alps and bike some of the quiet back-county trails around Lake Brunner. Afterwards it’s time for the main event…Snaking through the dense rainforests, glacial rivers, lakes and wetlands is the West Coast Wilderness Trail ‑ a graded cycle trail formed from a series of tracks originally carved by pioneering gold miners. After 4 days on the trail, we head back to Christchurch on the TranzAlpine Railway, one of the top 10 train journeys in the world.
