Our Death Valley National Park bike tour rides through a formidable landscape.
It is a below-sea-level desert basin surrounded by ragged mountains, salt flats, extreme temperatures and endless sands. Death Valley is also a place of almost supernatural beauty that must be experienced first hand.
Lizard Head Cycling Guides has created a tour through this wondrous terrain. In the late winter and into early spring a colorful bloom of rare wildflowers can occur after a “wet” winter bringing life to this seemingly lifeless wasteland. The weather in February and March in Death Valley is generally warm and dry with temperatures in the upper 70’s to low 80’s and cool, clear nights in the mid 50’s. The dark night skies in Death Valley are perfect for star gazing.
The Death Valley bike tour is an ideal tour to get the body moving again after a winter off the bike.

Why Ride this Wisconsin Bike Tour?
Lizard Head Cycling’s criteria for the creation of exceptional cycling tours runs first from finding car-free roads, then to big scenery, and then next to including routes that include exceptional lodging & food. Pavement smoothness is the number four criteria and it usually suffers in quality when delivering the car-free roads we love. This is not the case in Wisconsin! The Abajos Mountains to Moab bike tour is a point-to-point excursion that covers some of the most Wooooo‚ Hooooo‚!!! terrain Utah can serve up.
Remote is a word that barely scratches at the surface of describing this combined mountain and desert landscape. Starting high in the mountains, riders are treated with cooler temps, the pungent smell of pine, and the sound of the breeze in the trees. After pedaling alone the alpine roller coaster of the Abajo Mountains, riders rocket out of the mountains on a massive descent to find themselves riding alongside the weird, warm, and wonderful landscape that is quintessentially Utah’s Canyon Country. The riding on this tour is comprised of rugged jeep roads with only few short and walk-able exceptions. This tour is suitable for intermediate to advanced mountain bikers.

The Cascade Cols covers some of the most remote and car-free terrain within the Cascade Range of southeast Oregon traveling between three national forests, visiting Crater Lake, riding through dense old growth forests and offering stunning views around every turn. This should be every cyclists bucket list tour!
In 2017 we took an intermediate to advanced-level group of long time Lizard Head Cycling riders on the Cascade Cols tour. These clients reported that they loved the Cascade Cols tour with a few saying it was their favorite Lizard Head Cycling tour ever. High praise!
You can doooo it! On Lizard Head Cycling tours one can customize each day’s mileage. We offer “bumps” from each aid station. These are 10 to 15 mile shuttles down the road that put cyclists out front. This is something we are well known for. Yes, we offer full sag support each day of our tours. It is not about riding ALL the miles, it is about getting out there and giving it your best.
Overall, the Cascade Cols tour is not considered one of our most difficult tours. Yes, there are a couple of big climbs: such as up to Crater Lake and McKenzie Pass, but overall the tour is a good tour for intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced level. Note: We can shuttle riders part way up these climbs.

The mountains and high desert of southwest Utah are a cycling and hiking mecca.
Our Boulder, Bryce and Zion Utah bike tour delivers a combination of nearly car free roads, jaw-dropping scenery and plenty of time to stop and explore. The BBZ tour rides all 124-miles of Utah’s Highway 12. Highway 12 is a bucket list cycling route that is not ridden in its entirety on most Utah bikes tours. If one thinks they have already “done” Utah, they have not ridden Lizard Head Cycling’s Tour of Utah!
We incorporate easily accessible mileage options so that both intermediate and advanced riders can enjoy this land of the petrified red and white sand dunes of the Aquarius, Colorado and Paunsaugunt Plateaus.
The Boulder, Bryce and Zion bike tour visits Utah’s most famous natural wonders including Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Zion National Park among others.

Lizard Head Cycling‚ Moab's Desert Climbing Tour is a 4 or 5-day cycling event designed to provide base mileage for the cycling season to come.
Each day serves up multiple ride options. Cyclists choose to ride as much or as little as they want. Our Moab Desert Climbing Tour offers a choice selection of rides that include the Colorado National Monument, Grand Mesa (weather depending), and Canyonlands National Park. NOTE: Clients can also choose to ride an optional route into Arches National Park.
What the Moab’s Desert Climbing Tour is About…
The Moab Desert Climbing Tour was created to explore on two wheels the mind-bending geology of eastern Utah’s and western Colorado’s canyon country. This is rugged country with deep canyons bordered by high mountains. Elevations range from 4,500-feet to 10,800-feet. The tour aims to offer cyclists a jump on the competition or simply an early season goal. Since this is an early season ride, cyclists generally arrive on this tour without many miles in their legs. The itinerary reflects this reality. Cyclists will be given the opportunity to both exhaust themselves fully and if needed, jump in the van when they have had enough. After one pours Moab’s Desert Ride Camp into their legs, it is a good bet they’ll reach a higher level of fitness for the coming season.
