Lizard Head Cycling‚ Moab's Desert Climbing Tour is a 4 or 5-day cycling event designed to provide base mileage for the cycling season to come.
Each day serves up multiple ride options. Cyclists choose to ride as much or as little as they want. Our Moab Desert Climbing Tour offers a choice selection of rides that include the Colorado National Monument, Grand Mesa (weather depending), and Canyonlands National Park. NOTE: Clients can also choose to ride an optional route into Arches National Park.
What the Moab’s Desert Climbing Tour is About…
The Moab Desert Climbing Tour was created to explore on two wheels the mind-bending geology of eastern Utah’s and western Colorado’s canyon country. This is rugged country with deep canyons bordered by high mountains. Elevations range from 4,500-feet to 10,800-feet. The tour aims to offer cyclists a jump on the competition or simply an early season goal. Since this is an early season ride, cyclists generally arrive on this tour without many miles in their legs. The itinerary reflects this reality. Cyclists will be given the opportunity to both exhaust themselves fully and if needed, jump in the van when they have had enough. After one pours Moab’s Desert Ride Camp into their legs, it is a good bet they’ll reach a higher level of fitness for the coming season.

The Natchez Trace Parkway is one of North America's hidden gems.
With it’s vast stretches of twisty roads with little vehicle traffic, it’s tremendous scenery over ridges and through isolated hollows, it’s undulating terrain with no big climbing, and it’s myriad small friendly towns steeped in history, it’s no wonder that the Natchez Trace (also known simply as the “Trace”) is a destination for many cyclists looking to reconnect with nature while pursuing their love of cycling.
The Natchez Trace, also known as the “Old Natchez Trace”, is a historical foot path that extends roughly 440 miles from Natchez, Mississippi, to Nashville, Tennessee. The “Trace” was first created by migrating animals and then used for centuries by Native Americans. After the Americas were founded, the Trace was later used by early European and American explorers, traders, and emigrants in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Today, the trail is commemorated by the 440 mile Natchez Trace Parkway, which follows the approximate path of the old Trace.
The riding experience on the Trace is similar to riding a 440-mile bike path with no stop signs, no traffic, and no worries. You just go without worry!

To alpine mountaintops, along the raging Snake River, through Hells Canyon (North America’s deepest river gorge), high into the Wallowa Mountains and through ghost towns, bustling villages, and the painted hills of ancient fossil beds in between.
The Wallowa Mountains of northeastern Oregon, sometimes referred to as the “Alps of Oregon”, offer very remote riding through dense alpine forests and steep canyons which spill out into large open valleys. This region was the ancestral home to the Wallowa band of the Lower Nez Perce who once held one of the largest Native American reservations here until the push of settlers heading west reduced the size of the reservation instigating the Nez Perce War in 1877. Times are more peaceful these days and the myriad friendly small and old western style towns, even a few ghost towns, dot the region between the vast openness of the wide valleys and high mountains.
Highlights of the Wallowa bike tour include the charming artist’s town of Joseph, the Snake River Canyon, Rattlesnake Hill and much more…
This tour is geared towards intermediate to advanced cyclists looking fair amounts of climbing along remote back country roads.
