Prepare to be amazed by Japan and its unique cultural and geographical character, as we take the bullet train from downtown Tokyo to the rural idyll of the Noto Peninsula. Cycling the coastal roads of this rugged promontory, jutting out into the Sea of Japan, we pass ancient temples and shrines, terraced rice paddies, fantastic rock formations, sand dunes and sheltered beaches perfect for a swim. We'll visit the shops and fish market at Wajima and bike on Notojima Island, with the snow-covered Japanese Alps as our backdrop. A free day at Kanazawa, the city of castles, precedes our ride up into the hills for an overnight stay at a 200 year-old inn below Mount Hakusan. Finally, we transfer to the historic city of Kyoto, famous for its Geisha district of Gion.
