After pausing a couple of years the GBI will join the 'Green hell' again. Be part of the iconic 24 hours cycling event at the Nuerburgring grand prix race track and join one of the various GBI teams.
Long-distance races have always played a key role in the tradition of the Nürburgring. In 2003, the Nürburgring has gained yet a further attraction: the 24h race for cyclists. The flair of the race track and the unique atmosphere of a day-and-night race have already attracted a few thousand competitors over the last years.
The Nordschleife offers over 500 m of altitude difference and an overall length of 22 km. The race track offers 72 bends and it also features the bike arena at the Grand Prix paddock. The track leads right through this arena, where around 3,000 competitors put up their tents.
However, the 24h bicycle race not only implies tedious pedalling, but also the pleasure of cycling through the rough and beautiful landscape of the Eifel. When the sun gradually sets and the hilly countryside is tainted in soft light, when all you can hear in the silence of the night beyond the 'Planzgarten' is the sonorous whir of chains or when you simply cannot get enough of threading right and left through the 'Hatzenbach' downhill, the 24h race turns into a real joy.
The GBI offers participation in teams of 4 cyclists. The GBI Campis located directly at the race track. Here you can relax between the rides and get food and drinks to recover from the strain or even take a nap.

This time on our GBI Deutschland tour we are discovering the Franconian part of Bavaria. We cycle through the (lovely) Tauber valley and the (at least as lovely) Altmühl valley and end after a detour on the Danube in the World Heritage city of Regensburg.
Through the lovely Tauber Valley and in the Altmühl Valley we discover the Franconian region in a very unique way. We visit great cities such as Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Kelheim or Regensburg, take a relaxed ride along rivers and rest in cozy beer gardens.
Tour highlights
- Fall in love with the Tauber and Altmühl valleys
- Discover the medieval Rothenburg ob der Tauber
- Enjoy Franconian cuisine & centuries-old brewing traditions
- Accompany the Danube on its way
- Marvel at the World Heritage Regensburg
This cycling tour is intended for everyone and is ideal for couples who want to travel together but have different ambitions and performance level. In the river valleys, the climbs are really manageable, even if at the end of the day there are still some meters in altitude. The more demanding track 2 detours to the Franconian mountain ranges, so that even more ambitious participants will get their money's worth.
