Netherlands landscapes - rush, river, forest and moorland.

A bicycle tour of the Veluwe’s most beautiful spots

During this cycling vacation, you will be introduced to one of the oldest landscapes in the Netherlands. Formed in the Ice Ages when glaciers here raised the hills into ramparts. Later, the Rhine and Meuse rivers found their way to the North Sea from here, forming the Dutch Delta. Because the area is above sea level, settlement by hunting peoples took place here as early as the third century. Their burial mounds are still recognizable in the country . Nijmegen was a major Roman settlement, making it one of the oldest places in the Netherlands. Near Berg en Dal, you will cycle through a wide variety of landscapes, such as the river landscape of Maas and Niers and the lateral wall landscape near Groesbeek. Cycling past estates such as Doornwerth Castle and Jachthuis Sint Hubertus in Hoge Veluwe National Park. Along the way, you will also visit the Hanseatic city of Doesburg and cycle through the vast natural areas of Montferland and the border region with Germany. Through the Ooij polder you cycle back to where you started this cycling vacation: Berg en Dal. In short, a wonderful and versatile cycling vacation through (perhaps) the most beautiful part of the Netherlands!
