Velodyssey from Bordeaux to Biarritz along the Atlantic coast

This self-guided trip follows La Vélodyssée south from Bordeaux to Biarritz, crossing Gironde, Landes and Basque Country over six riding days. Starting from Bordeaux's UNESCO-listed quays, the route follows a former railway greenway to Lacanau-Océan, then continues along pine forest and lakeside paths to Arcachon, taking in the Dune du Pilat on foot.

South through the Landes, riders pass Biscarrosse and Mimizan, cross inland past the Étang de Cazaux et de Sanguinet (France's second-largest lake), and continue through forest trails and beach towns including Contis Plage and St Girons Plage.

The final stage crosses through Hossegor and Capbreton into the Basque Country, finishing via Bayonne's historic quarter in the seaside resort of Biarritz. Accommodation is in charming 3-star hotels and B&Bs throughout, with regular swimming stops along the way.

Note: this covers the same southern route as Evazio's shorter "Arcachon to Biarritz" tour, extended to start further north in Bordeaux.
