You will cycle along the Gironde Estuary from the quays of the Garonne in Bordeaux. You will cross the vineyard of Blayais, Médoc and Entre-deux-Mers. More south, you will taste the forest of the Landes de Gascogne Natural Regional Park where you’ll discover the exceptional scented landscapes of the smell of pine trees. Then you will reach the Arcachon Bay and the coastline with its beaches, dunes and great lakes.
Anyone can go from site to site at their own place. Some options permit to discover as well the Sauternais and Saint-Emilion. Come and discover the Atlantic Velodyssee bike tour from La Rochelle to Arcachon ! This Atlantic coast cycling route has been elected best cycling route in 2017! This cycle route begins in England and ends at the Spanish border.
The port of La Rochelle in Charente Maritime is the departure point. During your second day, on your two wheels you will discover the island of Ré, sandy beaches, marshes…On your third day you will head to the Royal city of Rochefort, at the mouth of the Charente, before reaching Marennes and its oyster farms. In the shade of pine trees, on a dream of a cycle path, you continue on to Royan. A ferry will take you across the Gironde to Pointe de Grave with your bike. You will follow the cycle paths through pine forests and between the ocean and great lakes of Lacanau or Hourtin, punctuated with charming seaside resorts such Soulac-sur-Mer and Lacanau Ocean. That will take you to the salt meadows and oyster farms so typical of Arcachon Bay.
