Lisbon - Sagres

This seven-day tour follows Portugal's Atlantic coast from Lisbon south to Sagres, at the country's southwesternmost tip. From the capital, riders cross the Tagus by ferry to reach Arrábida Nature Park, with its dramatic rock formations, before continuing to the historic port town of Setúbal.

A second ferry crossing over the Sado estuary leads onto the Tróia peninsula, with its beaches, rice fields and whitewashed villages, on to the coastal town of Sines. The route then enters the unspoilt Costa Vicentina Nature Park, tracing high cliffs and fishing villages through Vila Nova de Milfontes and Aljezur, before a final stage past Cape St Vincent, continental Europe's most southwesterly point, into the historic town of Sagres.

Riding is on gently hilly terrain, mixing quiet agricultural roads, some gravel sections and short stretches of busier road. This is a self-guided tour, with two included ferry crossings, luggage transfer and digital route documents provided throughout.

Gently hilly throughout, with several ascents daily but few steep climbs. Mostly quiet agricultural paths and side roads, some gravel on longer stretches, short sections on busier roads. Two included ferry crossings. Daily distances 39-76 km; average ascent approx. 456-460 m/day.

Weather:
The Algarve is sunny with a light Atlantic breeze keeping temperatures mild.

Suitable for:
Regular cyclists comfortable with daily distances of 39-76 km on gently hilly terrain with some gravel sections, rated "Challenging" by Eurobike. Suits riders after a scenic, self-guided coastal tour rather than a high-mileage or technical challenge.
