Cycling & Action Around Maishofen
Tours based in one hotel are perfect cycling holidays for families! Every day you go on a great (cycling) trip in all directions. In the evening you return ‘home’, where children and parents can relax. The area around Lake Zell is a particularly great destination for young and old, because action, adventure and grandiose natural spectacles await. In addition, there is the crystal clear water of the lake which will bring a sparkle to the eyes of little water babies. With Kasnocken, Kasspressknödel and Pinzgauer Krapfen, the batteries can be refuelled on the Tauern Cycle Path for the next experience.
The fun active holiday let’s children get what they want without neglecting the needs of adults. Lake Zell, the Krimml Waterfall or the view of ‘Austria’s Giants’, the Großglockner – the highlights can be cycled comfortably. Swimming fun not only awaits on day 3 at Lake Zell, but also at Ritzensee. On day 5 there is also the opportunity to take a detour to the summer toboggan run.
The area around the Maishofen base is ideal for numerous hikes at all levels. To strengthen yourself, you should treat yourself to a hearty meal with regional specialties.
Highlights
- Lake Zell with its many possibilities for water sports promises a lot of fun. Whether a leisurely trip in a pedal boat, finding balance on a stand-up paddle board or a fast tide on a banana boat – all water babies will get their money’s worth.
- Visit to the largest waterfalls in Europe: On day 4, the Pinzgauer local train, a highlight for kids in itself, takes you to the Krimml Waterfalls – a real must see in the Salzburg region. Here the masses of water thunder over three levels 380m down to the valley.
- Fun at the bike golf in Maishofen: The tour starts straight away with a special highlight! A bike golf round through Maishofen – which family member will get a hole in one? 15 adventure golf stations invite you to get to know the alpine village and surrounding landscape.
- Travel on the famous Glocknerstrasse and enjoy the view of Großglockner: Austria’s highest view can be enjoyed on the Großglockner High Alpine Road. In addition to the impressive nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park, there is a lot to discover on the 48km-long route: museums, visitor centres, mountain huts and of course the view of the Pasterze – the longest glacier in the Eastern Alps.
Almost entirely flat route along the Salzach and Saalach valleys, often along the Tauern-Cycle Path. Only small hills when the cycle route leaves the riverside. You mainly cycle on bike paths and very quiet side roads. Very short sections on busy roads.

Italy's most breathtaking landscape
The new cycle tour in the Eurobike programme takes you to Umbria, almost directly in the middle of the famous boot. This seven-day cycle tour is intended for tourists who want to experience the quiet, idyllic face of Italy. Every stage of the tour leads through lush olive groves, or past beautiful expanses of water such as the Tiber River or Lake Trasimeno. Of course, you will also pass through typically Italian medieval towns, with the well-known names of Assisi, Todi or Bettona. You will return ‘home’ every night – to the four-star Residenza d’Epoca alla Posta dei Donini.
What awaits you over this 260 kilometre cycle tour across Umbria will surprise you! The schedule begins and ends in San Martino in Campo and will take you to the most enchanting landscapes of Umbria. In south Tuscany, juicy grapes grow just as much as olives and sunflowers. Don’t forget your camera.
Hightlights
- On holiday, yet still at home: Cycle tour fans love the centre-based tours from Eurobike as they return to their holiday home every day. During the trip from Umbria, this is the Residenza d’Epoca alla Posta dei Donini, just outside Perugia. Tip: The hotel’s restaurant is considered one of the best in the region!
- Taste Umbria’s top wines: On the fourth day you can enjoy a wine tasking with a typical Umbrian lunch (included) at the well-known Chiorri vineyard.
- On the way with the Eurobike bus: The relaxed transfers from Montefalco and Todi back to to your starting point bring back even more variety into your cycling holidays. In this way you can let the wonderful surroundings pass you by again and enjoy.
On the stages to Lake Trasimeno and to Todi there are several longer ascents. All of the other day rides are predominantly flat or only have very small ascents. You cycle on wonderful, quiet side roads. Occasionally you cycle on good quality tracks. You only have to cycle on slightly busier roads on short connecting sections.

From the Leaning Tower to Elba
Hardly any other country makes the traveller’s heart beat faster than ‘Bella Italia’ and hardly any other region represents the Italian way of life as much as Tuscany. Wine, olives and the sea are just a few of the main attractions that make this tour in Italy very special. There are also cultural delights, such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa or ‘Venezia Nova’ in the port city of Livorno. The ‘grand finale’ of the 7-day tour along the Tuscan coast is the day trip to the island of Elba, where breathtaking scenery awaits.
The starting point of your journey of discovery along the Tuscan coast is the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. Even the first stage of the cycle tour invites you to take a refreshing dip in the cool water, for example, in the seaside resort of Viareggio. But it shouldn’t stop there – whether the Marina di Castagneto with its characteristic beach promenade or the famous ‘Golfo di Barrati’ where you can enjoy ‘La Dolce Vita’ in the bay or on a pedal boat – if you want the sea, you will certainly get it on this tour.
Feel the Mediterranean attitude towards life at every stage of this extraordinary tour. Enjoy the culinary delights, from A for antipasti to Z for zabaglione, and marvel at the lush olive groves.
Highlights
- Cycle around the Leaning Tower of Pisa: At the start of your tour you should take a lap of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, after all, it is one of the most famous landmarks in Italy. Did you know? It is a ‘campanile’ a free-standing bell tower that was supposed to complement a cathedral.
- Magnificent views over the Etruscan coast: Pine forests, seemingly endless beaches and steep coasts – days 4 and 5 of the tour along the Tuscan coast are all about the 90km-long ‘Etruscan Riviera’. Incidentally, some of the small bays in the port city of Piombino can only be reached by sea.
- The medieval wine village of Bolgheri is not only one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany, but also known world wine for its excellent wines (e.g. Sassicaia). Tip: The longest cypress-lined avenue in Italy at the gates of Bolgheri is also worth a snapshot.
- Cycle to the sandy beaches of Elba: The last day of the tour begins with a ferry ride to the island of Elba, where the sea can be enjoyed after many kilometres on the bike. The water quality around the island is considered to be excellent.
The terrain is mainly flat to slightly hilly. The only two strenuous stretches are during the two legs in the hinterland. Nearly all cycle paths are asphalted and some segments along the sea will be on rustic but well maintained trails. Due to lack of cycle paths along some sections, cycling briefly on roads with moderate traffic is unfortunately unavoidable.

Rialto, Dante, Ponto Vecchio.
From the lagoon city of Venice to historic Florence in eight days – that doesn’t just sound incredible – it is! In addition to the two major travel highlights, discover the delightful smaller towns along the route and marvel at the breathtaking nature in the ‘Delta del Po’ National Park. Hardly any other country in the world is better known for its culinary delights – enjoy cappuccino, cornetto, fresh fish and cool gelato!
What better way to start a trip to Italy than with a grappa? After a stroll through the magnificent area around St. Mark’s Square, you can taste the fine Italian wines. The first cycling stage leads to the romantic Chioggia or to the Sottomarina beach, which belongs to the city and where the Adriatic Sea can be enjoyed fully.
The journey continues via the charming towns of Adria and Comacchio to Revenna, a pearl of the Italian east coast. Here it is important to soak up the cultural delights – e.g. the famous mosaics – to stroll in the Piazza de Popolo and drink an Aperitivo. Via Brisighella (tip: the old town and fortress Rocco Manfrediana) you finally meet a breathtaking view of the Tuscan capital: Florence is waiting!
Highlights
- By bike across Venice’s ‘islands’: The lagoon city is so much more than ‘just’ St. Mark’s Square. You can get to know and love the magical charm of the numerous islands while cycling across the Lido and the fishing island of Pellestrina.
- Flamingos in the Po Delta: Thousands of animal species cavort in the equilibrium between water and land. The unique flora and fauna in the Po Delta not only amazes nature fans. As a special highlight, over 400 flamingos await visitors to the park in the Comacchio saltworks.
- Some of the world-famous mosaics in Ravena date from the 5th century and are still as colourful today as ever. The reason for this is the materials used (including gold and precious stones). A total of eight buildings with Bysantine and late antique mosaics make up the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Revenna.
- Through Florence by bike: Duomo, Dante and Ponte Vecchio – Florence is architecturally and culturally a city that you fall head over heels in love with.
For the first four days, you will cycle on flat terrain. On the sixth day, the route will lead over three to four small hills. On the seventh day, there will be two short climbs and a long descent. You will cycle on dams, farm tracks and side roads with little traffic. Only very short sections have to be cycled on roads with more traffic. Nearly all of the roads are asphalted. A bike tour for everyone!

Glittering water worlds
Art, culture, history - the Romantic Road with its numerous architectural masterpieces not only has a lot to offer, it also has many special features between Würzburg in the north and Füssen at its southern end. The region's crystal-clear lakes, all of which are great destinations for excursions, are a wonderful complement to this.
Let's start in Augsburg! The Fugger merchant family made the city a centre of trade and enjoyment hundreds of years ago. The architecture around the old town, the Fuggerei, the town hall and much more still hint at the unique past.
Next, the beautiful Wörthsee awaits your visit and afterwards you pass the Andechs Monastery on your way to the artist town of Murnau. From organic farms to a brewery - a stop at the Benedictine monks is always worthwhile. From now on, it's one after the other: the Wieskirche, a rococo jewel with its 36-metre-high tower, and finally Füssen/Schwangau with the breathtaking Neuschwanstein Castle. No wonder the Romantic Road is called that. Via Schongau and Landsberg am Lech, the journey finally returns to Augsburg.
Highlights
- The Fugger city of Augsburg is the third largest city in Bavaria and has a lot to offer: In the centre of the old town you should definitely visit the town hall with the Golden Hall and nearby the Perlachturm, the Weberhaus and the cathedral. The beer garden at the old city wall "Lueginsland" and the Mediterranean-style Damenhof are great places to stop.
- Wonderful swimming opportunities in the lakes: Wörthsee, Ammersee, Staffelsee, Riegsee - the glittering treasures of the journey invite you to swim, relax and of course have fun and action. Rent a pedal boat or, in the case of Lake Wörth, an original Venetian gondola!
- King Ludwig's fairytale castles: Neuschwanstein Castle was built from the remains of two castles in 1868 and is still considered the fairytale castle par excellence. Directly opposite is the equally worthwhile Hohenschwangau Castle - take a look at the royal residences, the castle kitchen and stroll through the castle garden.
- The wild and romantic river Lech: From Vorarlberg through Tyrol and in Bavaria to the Danube - by the way, the Celts called the river “der Steinige” or "the stony one", which can still be traced today at the Schötterbänken. In Landsberg, you have the opportunity to observe the power of the river, which is still used to generate electricity, on the bridges.
You will ride your bike on many cycle paths and side roads with little traffic. On the first three stages, you will need to cycle some climbs. Mostly, the roads are paved. However, some longer sections are on gravel paths. From Füssen to Augsburg, along the river Lech, you will find yourself mainly on flat terrain.
