Self-Guided

Ride one or more of three self-guided great routes

We’ve cycled far, wide, up, and down, and have narrowed these experiences down to three self-guided great routes.

Coastal Dash - 6 to 10 kilometres (your call) Straight into it. Out our door, around the corner and cycle up the coastal pathway towards Cape Kidnappers. Along the way calling into the various wineries, cellar doors, art galleries, gift shops and cafés. Very easy cycling, and a very easy way to use an afternoon.

The Coast & River Loop - 15 kilometres This is our favourite. Start along the coastal pathway, through the seaside village of Haumoana, check out the Tukituki lagoon with its surfers and fishermen, then up the Tukituki River, past the vineyards, orchards, farms, and then into the back of Te Awanga for some serious lunching.

Upstream Explorer - 25 kilometres For the more energetic types, this is an awesome way to see our surroundings. Start along the coastal pathway, through the seaside village of Haumoana, check out the Tukituki lagoon with its surfers and fishermen, then up the Tukituki River, past the vineyards, orchards, farms following the river up to Havelock North. Here you will be on the fringe of the village, where there are great wineries, cellar doors and local food producers. Afterwards cruise back to Te Awanga for some well deserved lunching (if you haven't already indulged here!).

or

Fleetwood Mac Route (go your own way) If you want to go your own way, no problem we’ll give you a map and a pat on the back.

We have classic beach cruiser bikes from California in Haumoana - Te Awanga, Hawke’s Bay. They have wide comfortable seats, swept back handlebars, baskets, bells, and oversize tires….perfect for relaxed cycling.
