A self-guided ride along the Elbe from Dresden's baroque old town to Magdeburg, through vineyards and fairytale castles.
This eight-day self-guided tour follows the Elbe Cycle Path from Dresden, the "Florence of the Elbe," north to Magdeburg. After a day exploring Dresden's Zwinger and Semper Opera, riders pass through the Radebeul vineyards to Meissen, home of the famous porcelain factory, then continue along wine villages to Riesa.
The route carries on to Torgau, with its Renaissance castle, and to Lutherstadt Wittenberg, a UNESCO World Heritage town tied to Martin Luther. From there riders pass the Wörlitzer Park and Bauhaus town of Dessau before a final stretch through an Elbe biosphere reserve to Magdeburg, known for its cathedral and monastery.
The tour can also be ridden in the reverse direction (Magdeburg to Dresden).
