Altitude Adventures, now trading as Altitude Bikes, was established in 2002 and was one of the first cycle companies on the Otago Central Rail Trail.
We are a husband and wife team with a passion for cycling and mountain bike riding, particularly in our own “backyard”. We combine personal experience, local knowledge and attention to detail, so that we can provide you with the best experience possible. Whether it’s a trip on the Otago Central Rail Trail, Clutha Gold and Roxburgh Gorge Trails or one of our Single Track Mountain Bike Adventures, we will take care of all of the organising so you can enjoy genuine southern hospitality and the best cycling holiday possible.
Phil has over 25 yrs biking experience and as a qualified mountain bike guide/cycle mechanic and has a vast knowledge of cycling, including having guided cycling groups to all part of the Globe.
We cater for independent travellers, families, groups and corporates and are happy to discuss your individual requests.

Explore New Zealand's largest river by bike
Every twist and turn reveals stunning landscape with giant rocks, canyons and willow lined riverbanks and glimpses into the history of one of the worlds biggest gold rushes.
Your ride starts in Alexandra where you will follow the Clutha River down the Roxburgh Gorge Trail. After 14km you will transfer onto a jet boat and transported 8km to the southern end of the trail where you will disembark and continue your ride to the Roxburgh Hydro Dam. From the Dam you will join the Clutha Gold Trail and ride to overnight B&B accommodation in Roxburgh.
Ride from Roxburgh, along the Clutha Gold Trail passing Millars Flat and Lonely Graves and on to Beaumont for your overnight B&B accommodation.
On the final day leave the Clutha River and head inland through rolling farm land, passing through Tunnel Hill and your final destination of Lawrence.

This disused railway line from Clyde to Middlemarch has been transformed over the years to the flagship of New Zealand cycle trails. Out there scenery, zero traffic and genuine Central Otago hospitality make this one of New Zealand’s most popular cycling holidays.
AltitudeBikes Shuttle will pick you up from your Queenstown accommodation and transport you to Alexandra/Clyde where you will collect bikes (then fitted to size so will require your heights beforehand ) and will start you on the Rail Trail.
