The birthplace of great Colombian cyclists and one of the epicenters of cycling in Latin America.
Villa de Leyva was founded in 1572 in the Zaquencipá Valley, part of the territory of the Muisca indigenous peoples, and has witnessed the history of Latin America, from pre-Columbian times, through the conquest, the colonial era, to the struggles for independence. Its houses and streets are an architectural and cultural legacy from each of these moments.
Villa de Leyva is located in the heart of Boyacá, a department that, due to its challenging mountain passes and high altitude.
