Cycle at the base of the stunning Dolomites and experience the outstanding scenery and small villages
This enchanting journey takes you through the historic Veneto region of north-east Italy. Taking in the splendid cities of Trento, Verona and Vicenza you'll have time to appreciate the architectural and cultural delights specific to each. Starting from the mountains around Bolzano, passing the beauty of Lake Garda and winding through pretty meadows and orchards you'll head east to the lovely town of Mestre, located on the doorstep of Venice.
Highlights
- Cycling at the base of the stunning Dolomites
- Experiencing the outstanding scenery and small villages en route
- Sipping coffee (or something stronger) in a café in one of Verona’s magnificent piazzas
- Enjoying the culinary specialties such as marinated sardines
- Delighting in the warm hospitality of the hotel owners
The cycling is moderate (3) grade with daily cycles of around 35 to 70km/22 to 44mi. The accent is on keeping a steady pace with time to stop and take photos (subject to weather conditions). The route is predominantly flat mixed with easy hills; the only strenuous part is the Berici Hills. The cycle is mainly on secondary streets with low traffic or paved bike paths. The vast majority of the route is on paved surfaces.

I really enjoyed the cycle through the Dolomite region and the entry into Lake Garda. A truly amazing part of the world. Be prepared to put on weight in Italy, and work hard during the day to minimise the impact on your stomach! A gastronomic delight. I had a lovely tour leader called Petra, she is from Italy and only recently joined the company. They are a very professional company with excellent equipment and guide information supplied. The route is marked with handy green and black stickers, if you get lost (look for them if you want to get back on the path). It helps when the language you speak - is spoken by the guide. There was a mix of European languages though - makes it interesting :-). The meals were all excellent and accommodation - very good to excellent . A few places with pay wifi - but no problem (you are on holiday). Italy is a lovely place, and would use this tour company again :-)
