An unforgettable journey on very quiet backroads, past gorgeous vineyards and olive groves
An amazing bike ride in the area of Chianti Classico. This is an unforgettable journey on two wheels on very quiet backroads, past gorgeous vineyards and olive groves in the heart of Chianti Classico wine country.
There are a few gradual climbs along the way – greatly rewarded with amazing panorama – some of the best in Chianti.
The ride starts in Gaiole in Chianti, a quiet and very beautiful wine village, as well as home to the world famous vintage bike race called L’ Eroica.
We bike south towards Siena on the Chiantigiana road, then continue to a gorgeous 11th century castle, one of the largest and best maintained fortified castles in the Chianti area. This castle was the birthplace for Chianti Classico wines in the late 1800’s.
The entrance fee to visit the majestic castle’s formal gardens is included in the tour price. Here, you will experience one of the most breathtaking views possible in Tuscany, from the fortified walls of the castle, admiring the formal gardens of the estate, featuring sweeping 360 degree views of vineyards all the way to Siena.
Afterwards, we will taste the best wines and vintages from this prestigious estate, which is has been in the same noble family for over 35 generations.
There is time for an optional stop for lunch (not included in the tour price) at the flagship winery restaurant or other nearby bars and trattoria.
Later on, we continue by bike to one of the area’s most beautiful medieval fortified villages, perched atop a very panoramic ridge. There will be lots of time for photo taking and enjoying the moment. The route features a challenging climb, but the vistas at the top make it well worth it.
Our efforts are rewarded by a cellar visit located in a medieval fortress dating back to the 13 C followed by a generous wine tasting of the best wines and vintages in this boutique winery’s designer tasting room with jaw dropping panorama.
After the tasting, riders may opt to hop in the support van or continue biking on a very gentle, fun and incredibly scenic downhill back to Gaiole.

An incredible road ride – Ride like a Tuscan!
Imagine a perfect day on a full carbon Pinarello or Bianchi road bike, cycling on some of Italy’s most iconic roads, past vineyards, olive groves and cypress trees. Roads and panorama which have been immortalized in Giro d’Italia and in Strade Bianche by pro riders.
The Chianti Classico area is a perfect area for enjoying road cycling at its finest, this is why many pro riders are based in this area, as there is something for everyone: gradual climbs, hairpin turns, white knuckle descents, flats, grueling accents – in Chianti Classico there is a certain rythym to the road biking, here is your opportunity to be drawn to its captivating allure. You may never wish to leave again, just like us.
This ride allows you to explore the three most charming medieval wine villages in Chianti: Gaiole, Radda and Castellina. They constituted the “League of Chainti” in the Middle Ages and today are lovely tourist destinations related to fine wines.
The ride starts in Gaiole in Chianti, a quiet and very beautiful wine village, as well as home to the world famous vintage bike race called L’ Eroica.
We bike south towards Siena on the Chiantigiana road, then continue on a gradual, very scenic climb to Radda in Chianti surrounded by vineyards on all sides. Then, prepare your legs and mind for the steep 15% 1 KM ascent into the city centre of Radda. You will have earned your wings and the incredible 360 degree panorama from one of Tuscany’s most charming medieval wine villages, looking out onto the surrounding Chianti countryside.
Afterwards, we will give our legs a break, and unwind on a lovely ridge road connecting Radda to Castellina.
Then there is time for an optional stop for lunch (not included in the tour price) at the flagship winery restaurant or other nearby bars and trattoria located in downtown Castellina.
We will also enjoy a wine tasting at one of the area’s most prestigious wine estates, of their best wines and vintages.
Later on, we continue by bike, on a very long and memorable descent, and loop back around towards Radda once again.
The last leg of our journey retraces a small portion of L’Eroica vintage bike ride, climbing on a switchback filled road, through shady woods, on the way to Badia a Coltibuono. Then, a final 5 KM, exhilarating decent back to Gaiole in Chainti.

Ride some of the most scenic white roads in Tuscany
The ride starts in Gaiole in Chianti, a quiet and very beautiful wine village, as well as home to the world famous vintage bike race called L’ Eroica.
We bike south towards Siena on the Chiantigiana road, then continue on a breathtaking, gradual climb through the vineyards on paved roads to centre city Radda in Chianti. Here you will have time to enjoy an espresso with the locals, get some amazing photos of the countryside all around (360 degrees) and linger in its medieval streets, soaking in the ambiance.
Afterwards, your biking adventure continues in the direction of Vagliagli (literally the valley of garlic, due to spontaneous wild garlic growing there) on a very scenic strada bianca, literally white road, which here in Tuscany refers to gorgeous backroads, with almost no traffic whatsoever passing through the most beautiful landscapes, filled with vineyards, fortified villages, castles, olive groves and lovely villas.
There is time for an optional stop for lunch in Radda, Vagliagli or San Sano (not included in the tour price) at the local restaurants, bars, and/or trattoria.
Later on, we continue on our two -wheeled adventure on some of the most scenic white roads in Tuscany, passing near Pievasciata, San Sano and eventually through Lecchi in Chianti.
Our efforts are rewarded by a wine tasting at a local, top wine estate on the return route or if you prefer a local micro brew or glass of wine in the main square of Gaiole upon your return.
