Ride the best of the Alentejo coast and Algarve on a short Portugal cycling break
From Castles to Coastline is a short 4-day cycling holiday that packs two regions into one easy break. Starting in the historic hilltop town of Santiago do Cacém, it rides from the Alentejo coast to the pristine Vicentina Coast, finishing in Odeceixe on the edge of the Algarve.
Day one passes the region's last working windmill and lush oak forest before reaching the Atlantic, with a beach picnic near the fishing village of Porto Covo and a stop at the old anti-pirate fort facing Peach Island. Day two follows one of Portugal's most spectacular clifftop rides, with stork nests on the cliffs and a swim at Almograve Beach.
Expect fresh fish, award-winning Alentejo wines and the operator's famous gourmet beach picnics, with stories of olive oil, cork and local life along the way. Choose self-guided or Guided Plus, on your own bike or a rented e-bike, gravel or trekking bike.

Mostly quiet secondary asphalt roads and some dirt roads on day one. The clifftop day has many dirt-road sections, mostly flat, with asphalt alternatives. Daily ascent is 330 to 460 m.
Weather
Mild Atlantic climate, with sea breezes keeping coastal summers warm rather than hot. Spring and autumn are ideal for riding and still warm enough to swim. Winters are mild and wetter.
Suitable for
Leisure riders wanting a short coastal break with two 50 to 60 km days. Suits couples, solo travellers and families, with e-bike, gravel and trekking bikes available.
