The Drava (Drau) cycle path is one of the most scenic cycling routes in Europe and has been awarded a 5-star rating by the ADFC (German Cyclists’ Association) for a reason.
The tour starts at the source of the river Drava in Dobbiaco, where Gustav Mahler, the composer, found most of his inspiration. You will be cycling along the river all the way to Lienz, from where the route takes you through Spittal an der Drau and Rosegg to the Klopeiner See. On the way, you will pass by several lakes where you can have a refreshing dip, or just enjoy the sun on the banks. The section from Villabassa/Dobbiaco to Lake Klopeinersee is especially suitable for families and beginner cyclists, as the designated lanes are with negligible elevation gain.
