Experience Sweden Outdoors
Swike are a small Swedish active travel company offering nature-based holidays in Småland and around Lake Vättern in southern Sweden. They run multi-day cycling and hiking packages, guided day experiences including cycling, hiking and kayaking, and rent out e-bikes, touring bikes and kayaks from bases in Jönköping and Bunn, near Gränna.
Their cycling packages range from relaxed touring along the Göta Canal, around Lake Vättern and through Astrid Lindgren’s Småland, to challenging multi-day gravel routes through northern Småland. Most tours are self-guided, with luggage transfers and turn-by-turn navigation through the Ride with GPS app, and some include guided sections led by local guides. Riders stay in hand-picked hotels, manors and guesthouses along the way, with an emphasis on regional food and local producers.
Swike was founded by Fredrik Ljunggren, who left a career of almost 20 years in IT, trained as a personal trainer specialising in endurance sports, and has long been involved in building and restoring hiking and biking trails in Småland. Sustainability is central to how they operate: small groups, local partners and low-impact routes. They also create tailor-made trips for private travellers, run activities for companies and groups, and work as a destination management company (DMC) for other tour operators. They are a Visit Småland ambassador, and their travel guarantee is lodged with Kammarkollegiet, the Swedish government agency.
