Ireland's oldest city on two wheels
Our Waterford city cycling tour starts in the emerging Cultural Quarter, home to the architectural legacy of John Roberts and some amazing street art, courtesy of Waterford Walls.
We will then cycle along the river Suir to learn about Waterford’s rich maritime history. On the way, you’ll hear the thrilling story of Thomas Francis Meagher, one of the leaders of the 1848 revolution. If we’re lucky, we may encounter a Hobbit in their hidden house
Heading off the beaten track, we will pay a visit the People’s Park, transformed from an ‘oozy marsh’ to a glorious example of a 19th century public space. We then travel back further in time to uncover the locations of the surviving portions of the city’s once extensive fortifications, some dating back to the 10th century.
Our leisurely spin culminates in the Viking Triangle home to the House of Waterford Crystal, Christchurch Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace Museum, Reginald’s Tower and the Vadrarfjordr, a replica Viking longboat.
