Explore New Mexico’s Spicy Side with Our Most Popular Food!
The New Mexico Chile Bike Tour is Albuquerque’s first signature bicycle experience that takes guests onto the streets of Albuquerque to explore the flavorful red and green chiles for which New Mexico is famous. Each installment features six innovative culinary partners and a wide selection of New Mexican chiles in delicious combinations of classic, sweet, savory, and unique.
The bold flavors of contemporary New Mexican cuisine arise from the State’s local terrain and arid climate (which lend themselves to the distinctive flavor of green and red chile), and blend traditional Native American, Spanish, and American culinary traditions. No visit to the Land of Enchantment is complete without sampling the rich variety of cuisines embraced by our creative chefs.

We’ve partnered with the New Mexico Department of Agriculture to ensure you enjoy the all the flavors of our state’s most beloved crop on this educational, scenic and delicious bike tour dedicated to the NM Chile. Don’t just learn why our state question is, “Red or Green?” – experience it first hand as we pedal to several local businesses and savor the many ways to get your chile fix.
Routes’ professional tour guides facilitate your experience at every turn with our signature concierge-level service and impart a unique understanding, background, and context for Red and Green Chile in New Mexico.
The New Mexico Chile Bike Tour is approximately 3-1/2 hours in length and includes ample food tastings, a guided bicycle tour through some of Albuquerque’s most scenic locations (including the cottonwood forest along the Rio Grande River), a ‘support and gear’ (SAG) vehicle, and our always popular gift bags filled with goodies from the tour.
