With this guided cycling tour of Transylvania, you will find out the reasons why Transylvania is famous across the world. You will discover its mysterious legends and hear all about its bloodthirsty count who’s said to have been ruling these wild lands from his hilltop castle for centuries. Although these are only legends, Transylvania is indeed a most spectacular place, where tradition, the breath-taking natural scenery and the wide variety of animals and plants which inhabit it, still co-exist harmoniously today, not caring of the fast-paced advancements of the modern world we’re surrounded with.
Guarded by the glorious Eastern Alps, also known as the Carpathian Mountains, this fairy tale land was always fiercely fought for. First, the Saxons settled here, early in the 11th century and they bravely kept the passes between Transylvania and Wallachia safe from the powerful Tatars and the Ottomans. This bloody and fascinating history is waiting for you to discover it. You will experience not only brilliant castles, fortified churches and medieval towns but also small environmental reserves, untouched still by the heavy hand of modern advancements, and absolutely sublime in their natural simplicity.

Gems of the city of joy
This trip will show you the best gems of « the city of the joy » or Bucharest ("bucur" meaning joy in Romanian).
Its story began about 5 centuries ago when Bucharest was a just a little village located straight on a commercial road by Dambovita river. Not too long after, Prince Vlad Tepes (the Wallachian prince, native from Transylvania, who inspired the Dracula character) transformed it into the capital. At the beginning of the 1800, Bucharest had around 60.000 inhabitants, but by the end of the century, it managed to develop so much that it reached the 1 million markers just before the beginning of the Second World War. It was around that time that Bucharest earned its nickname as the "Little Paris" thanks to its beautiful, French-inspired architecture. Nowadays, Bucharest is a wonderful mixture of medieval (influenced by the Ottoman Empire), neo-classic, the communist and modern architecture.

During this trip we will discover the South-eastern part of Transylvania.
Almost all the rides will take place in Bucegi Mountains and in Piatra Craiului Mountains. The rides in those two National Parks, in the middle of pastures, sheepfolds and forests, will not leave you indifferent! The locals abandoned long time ago the valleys to perch on the heights, mostly to avoid Tartars and Turks attacks. A journey in the middle of a pastoral tradition in complete osmosis with a wild nature sheltering brown bears, chamois, wolves and lynxes.

Maramures is situated in a hollow ground in the heart of the Romanian’s Northwest Carpathian Mountains.
The inhabitants of this region have known how to preserve their traditions and their folklore and you can admire the woolen traditional costumes, the flowery skirts, the colored head scarves which cover women’s head and the traditional hats which crest the men’s ones.
Although surrounded by Ukraine, Hungary, and Transylvania, Maramures presents an unmistakably cultural unity. One of the aspects of this common heritage is the architecture: here, the majority of houses are wooden built, according to an ancestral and proven technique. All the villages count at least a few centuries old wooden church (among which some are registered with the UNESCO world heritage list).
The region lives essentially on its natural resources, especially on the farming and on the forest exploitation. Come and discover the sweet hills, and fields covered with flowers during the springtime, and forests with plenty of mushrooms and wild berries. The fieldworks reflect the seasons and add an updated charm to this bucolic region.
