This is a particularly picturesque leg, with highlights including beautiful countryside, typical rolling Tuscan hills, vineyards, sunflowers, hilltop villages, cathedrals and historic buildings galore – not to mention the wonderful cities of Piacenza, Bologna, Orvieto and Rome.
The first part of the trip is almost totally flat until we cross into the rolling hills of Tuscany on the morning of day 3 where we cover the two biggest climbs of the leg. From there we cycle through Umbria & Lazio into Bologna and finally pick up a cycle path that takes us almost entirely traffic-free into the centre of Rome.
There is a total of 4 1/2 days’ cycling, covering 390 miles.

This tour is a wonderful way to see some of the very best scenery that France and Italy has to offer. Combining legs 2, 3 and 4 of Ride25’s tours (Paris to Geneva, Geneva to Milan and Milan to Rome) this tour involves 12 and a half days of cycling (plus rest days in Geneva and Milan) covering 1094 miles.
Departing Paris, we will begin our journey into France, passing through vineyards and Romanesque churches before taking on a challenging climb across the stunning Jura Mountains into Switzerland and then our descending into Geneva. Here we will enjoy two days’ rest before setting off on the next stretch of our journey, starting with a flat and traffic free route followed by an exciting mountain climb up the Nufenen pass. We will also pedal alongside some of Italy’s most beautiful lakes and climb to the the Madonna del Ghisallo, before arriving in Milan. After a rest day in Milan, we will head back onto the road for the final stretch of our journey, pedalling through typical rolling Tuscan hills, vineyards and hilltop villages and passing cathedrals and beautiful historic buildings. We will finish in the Vatican City.

Taking in two of the world’s greatest cities, this classic route is split across three days’ cycling with an average of 77 miles a day.
We will leave behind the bright lights of London and weave our way through France’s beautiful countryside before gliding up to the Eiffel Tower and taking celebratory tourist photos. As with all Ride25 tours, you will be fully supported along the way and everything will be taken care of so all you need to do is soak up the sights and enjoy the ride.
