From the mountains of North West Vietnam through rural land locked Laos into little travelled regions of Northern Thailand

Our holiday offers challenging cycling in areas where you will encounter minority communities and dramatic landscapes.
Beginning in Hanoi we transfer to the mountain hill tribe town Sa Pa near to Fan Si Pan, the highest mountain in Vietnam.  We cycle from here over the Tram Ton (1,900m; 6,230 ft); the highest mountain pass in South East Asia. A route through narrow gorges and minority villages leads us to Dien Bi√™n Phu, where the French military were defeated in 1954 during the most dramatic confrontation of the First Indo China War. A significant moment in Vietnam’s history.

Bidding farewell to Vietnam we cycle into beautiful landlocked Laos to be greeted with a warm welcome from traditional rural communities as we ride rolling roads through agricultural landscapes. Our cycle holiday continues to historic UNESCO world heritage town Luang Prabang. Luang Prabang is a gleaming historic city where ancient monasteries sit alongside French colonial architecture, nestled in mountains in an idyllic riverside setting.  We take a scenic boat trip on the mighty Mekong River, passing the confluence with the Nam Ou, site of holy Pak Ou caves where there are over 4,000 Buddha icons.

Cycling northwards with some challenging climbs our next destination is Northern Thailand where you will encounter more hills, twisting mountain roads through rugged scenery passing traditional temples and teak house villages. At Phu Lang Ka in Phayao province, a mountainous scenery of rolling ‘sea clouds’ enveloping a karst rock landscape will take your breath away. Our adventure ends in Chiang Kham district. We will transfer you to Chiang Rai for your flight home.
