Galway to Dublin Bike Tour

This exciting tour brings you across the island of Ireland from Coast to Coast.
Starting off in Galway City, frequently called Ireland’s most Irish city (easily reached from Shannon airport). This coastal metropolis is a place where Celtic culture and literature have long thrived, often in the traditional Gaelic language. Galway just won the acclaim to be the European Capital of Culture in 2020. That’s Galway – different, special and never, ever predictable! This city is also situated on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. This cycle route takes you across the Shannon River near Athlone to the ‘heart’ of Ireland - the Midland Region, which encompasses the counties of Laois, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath. The landscape of the Midland Region is diverse, dominated by the River Shannon and its callows along the western boundary, interspersed with lakes, wetlands, bogs, agricultural lands and eskers throughout the central area, the upland area of Slieve Bloom Mountains to the south and the rolling landscape of the Barrow and Nore valley to the south east. This is an ancient landscape with plenty of attractions along the quiet back-roads. You are biking through Ireland’s Ancient East.
Along the way cycle along the Canals before finishing in Dublin, the metro pole of Ireland. Its vibrancy, nightlife and tourist attractions are renowned. Even though it is by far the biggest city in Ireland, its centre is, however, relatively small and can be navigated by foot, with the attractions being in close proximity to each other. The tour is suitable for riders of all levels. It can be modified to suit riders of a more leisurely disposition by shortening the longer distances into half.
