The La Vuelta as it is traditionally known is an annual men’s multiple-stage bike race primarily held in Spain. It is the final of the three Grand Tours (Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a Espana) held each cycling season. Traditionally, the race is held in the last weeks of August and early September to fit in with the European Summer holiday season. While the route changes each year, the format of the race stays the same, and includes time trials, passage through the many mountain ranges, and a finish on the streets of Madrid.

The editions of La Vuelta Espana consist of 21 day-long stages over a 23-day period and cover approximately 3,500 kilometres (2,200 mi) total, with 24 World Tour Teams competing.
