Outland Travel
The finest crafted mountain bike experiences in Southern Africa’s most spectacular and remote wilderness
Southern Africa boasts the world’s most exquisite destinations – now it’s time for you to really see it. Bicycle touring puts the brakes on our human urge to do everything faster. By slowing down the pace of exploration, riders are actually able to soak up the unique and remote wonder of the paths less travelled.
Our mission is to craft eternal memories of our diverse wilderness, both on and off the bike. We don’t believe in choosing between relishing the journey or the destination; with Outland Travel, you can have it all and then some.
We take riding very seriously, for a bunch of guys in lycra shorts and funny helmets. We’ve got twelve years of experience in the cycling industry, a third of which has been dedicated to cycle tour operations. That means that any bumps along the road have already been smoothed over because it’s a road we plan to travel for many years to come. That’s why we prioritise safety and security through employing skilled, trained and knowledgeable guides, back-up bundu-bashing 4×4 vehicles, 24/7 satellite surveillance and emergency evacuation support. We leave our egos at the door and tread with a little bit of caution; our efforts put the ‘A’ grade in Africa, but we’ve been around long enough to have a Plan B on hand at all times.

Tuli is known as land of giants, with signs of elephant activity all around
With the Koro Island Camp as our base, and the Limpopo River our companion, the expansive Northern Tuli Game Reserve is very much ours to explore. Jeep tracks and game trails lead the way across hilly terrain, while mopane thickets open up just enough to allow for real “off-road” riding.
The waterholes located away from the river draw in the herds throughout the dry season to offer close up sightings of these magnificent creatures in their natural, untouched habitats. But it’s not just the elephants who rule here – the elusive brown hyena freely roam these plains, while large prides of lion dominate at night. If timed right, we could hear these big cats stirring as they begin their nocturnal movements during one of our evening game drive sundowners.
For those feeling extra adventurous, a night spent under the stars at our exclusive overnight site brings you even closer to the sights and sounds of this incredible wilderness.

Hills and valleys of sand stretching as far as the eye can see in all directions…
This 8-night trail runs through the remote expanse of Namibia's central area. A wide open expanse wilderness dotted with rocky outcrops and dry river beds. It offers a wild gravel riding experience as we make our way over from the mountains of Erongo and Spitzkoppe, over the open plains of Uis and on the wild reaches of the Damaraland, home to the desert elephants and lions. Journeying by bike opens a new perspective to the intrepid rider, allowing us to get to places not often seen by tourists. And once we find ourselves at any one of our serene overnight camps, the days riding will make the sundowner drink even sweeter.
The Namib desert isn’t heaven but it’s damn close. Starting in Namibia’s Erongo bushveld, we traverse the formidable desert plains en route to the coastal town of Swakopmund. Free-camping brings us to legendary locations like Spitzkoppe and the Khan River. The bustle of the city is a million miles away as we soak in spectacular African sunsets and bask in the starlight of a milky way uncorrupted by light pollution. Keep a sharp eye out for the elusive desert wildlife, like the iconic oryx antelope or the sly brown hyena. As we conclude our trip in Swakopmund, enjoy the feast of a traditional meal to reward your tired muscles.
Note: The Namib Trail has a predetermined point-to-point route and for this reason, we can not adjust the type or length of riding. However, a back-up vehicle is always on hand.

The Lower Zambezi valley offers you an undiluted African experience for your cycle-safari.
We can’t think of a better adventure than the truly wild Zambezi Trail. Starting at the iconic Victoria Falls, traversing the length of the Zambezi to the magnificent Lower Zambezi Valley, with a journey across the entire Lake Kariba for good measure. This point-to-point journey is not a biking holiday, it’s an epic journey that very few have made before. With the river as our constant companion, we’ll ride through beautiful local villages, along the top of gorges, spend a night ferrying across a lake, and ending in a valley teeming with wildlife. Join us on the Zambezi Trail to enjoy epic rides through the unknown corners of the Zambezi, and earn every one of the unbelievable sunsets we have along the way.
Footpaths and dirt roads span between the Zambezi and Kafue rivers as we move between villages and farms. Keep an eye out for the wildlife as we employ the service of local community ponts to cross the water. We also explore the world-famous Mana Pools National Park along the wild southern banks of the Zambezi. Relive the memories of the day with newfound friends while you drift down the river with a G ‘n T or maybe try your hand at nabbing a tiger fish…that is if the resident wildlife don’t beat you to it. Replenish your energy stores each evening as we retire to the luxury of our river-side lodge.
Note: As our experiences are curated for you, the skill and endurance ratings are an indication only and can be adjusted to your needs.

Breathtaking beauty with vast savannas, incredible wildlife, and diverse landscapes.
Experience stunning sunsets, serene waterholes, and rich biodiversity as we explore this iconic South African gem.
So close to the buzzing town of Hoedspruit, it’s hard to believe that such a remote and lush bush escape exists. Selati Private Game Reserve is 27,000 ha of untouched lowveld terrain where the Big 5, cheetah and wild dog call the kopjes and riverine areas home.
Extremely low visitor density means that the vast landscape is ours to explore in almost complete isolation. A typical day begins with our qualified guides taking you to hidden outlooks where the views give you a real sense of scale, before heading off for a bush breakfast beneath the jackalberry trees.
After a relaxing afternoon at your private lodge, an afternoon walk or game drive closes the day with the unmissable ritual that is an African sundowner where we can relive the day’s adventures.
