An easy bike tour to reach a winery about 10 km from Lucca city centre, arriving at the foot of the hill and climbing for one or two kilometres (depending on which winery we select ).

We know several tracks in Garfagnana and Apuan Alps. Orecchiella , Matanna , Sumbra, Corchia, Devil are some of the tours; each of them has different distinctive features and positive or negative aspects, depending on season, position and men's behaviours.

Differently from other Not Ordinary Ways' bike tours, for mountain bike tours in Garfagnana we need a quite long transfer to the starting point, both for persons and for bicycles. For these reason you need to reserve these tours several days before.

But considering we organize tailor-made tours, depending on requests and tourists taste we can decide to take the little train going through Garfagnana and start the tour from the main villages.

Typical programme: a licensed tourist guide will show Lucca biking through ancient medieval streets and having a great view of the city centre riding on the historical walls

A longer bike tour with hybrid bikes, on country roads, going up and down for Lucca hills until we decide to stop and relax in a farm winery.

Colline Lucchesi mountain bike tour

Differently from Monti Pisani, here we go towards Lucca hills, rich in villas and vineyards, to climb up to 500 mt and then ride up and down on singletracks. The tour is a little easier because we don't have to climb the total ascent on the way there and single tracks are less technical. There's the possibility to stop in a farm or in a trattoria to have an unexpected wine tasting or lunch on the way back.

We reach Monti Pisani feet, between Lucca and Pisa. From here we climb up dirt roads/jeep roads/single tracks to the peak (853 mt) to have a great view of all the plain around Lucca untill the sea close to Pisa. Just before the top there's a large green meadow, provided with a big rustic grill, where open air lovers have picnic and spend their sunny days, and a typical trattoria, where we can have a great lunch! (on request) Way back is characterized by fast and sometimes technical single tracks to the end. So this tour looks like a long tiring ascent on the way there and a long enjoyable single tracks on the way back.

Biking along Serchio river on a large dirt road, we arrive in the historical villas area, on the foot of Lucca hills, rich in vineyards and olive groves.

Here you can choose to visit historical gardens and villas, as Villa Reale, Villa Grabau or Villa Oliva.
