Currently Launceston's most popular riding area due to a recent upgrade by the Launceston Mountain Bike Club who received a $300 000 grant from sport and recreation for trail construction here and in Trevallyn Reserve. Kate Reed is the first area to see development of purpose build single track that offers great flow with many extra features for use for those with the skills. This area lends itself to all abilities and makes for a great 2-3 hour ride on the outskirts of Launceston. If you are new to MTB we can tailor the ride to include some basic technique instruction. If you are an experienced rider we can up the tempo to give you not only a fun experience, taking in the extra track components that only become apparent with speed, but also a good workout at the same time.

Aimed at experienced riders visiting the state but needing to be shown where the tracks go, this is one of our more advanced rides, you will need to have reasonable MTB skills to tackle this as the terrain is quite technical. However, come prepared for an extremely rewarding adventure. This is the ride for those wanting to build on an all ready solid fitness base as we leave the vehicle at the finishing point and complete the whole ride on the bike. This involves a gradual climb on bitumen to the top of the Weldborough pass before moving to gravel for the undulating route to Poimena, the start of the normal BTD. The itinerary then mirrors the first option.

Take a leisurely morning to soak up some of Launceston's waterfront atmosphere (figuratively speaking!). The majority of the circuit follows the meandering banks of Launceston's rivers and with no major hill climbs you can take it pretty easy. The ride heads off along the Elphin Road cycle way, which connects us to the North Esk River cycle track.Tracing the curves of the river it's sometimes easy to forget you are still in the heart of the Launceston city. After a circuit of Heritage Forest we leave the banks of the North Esk to follow the Tamar River which we cross on the Kings Bridge, catching a glimpse the spectacular Cataract Gorge as we pass.

We can explore the great variety of tracks in this popular mountain bike area. Before we return we will dismount and walk our bikes through what is arguably Launceston's best natural treasure, the Cataract Gorge.??Note: This ride is recommended for participants who have had some MTB experience, for an easier option see the Riverside Trails ride.

One of the best mountain bike specific trails presently on offer in the country, The North South track, on Mt Wellington near Hobart has been built to an extremely high standard, with the workmanship and attention to detail on the trail the only thing likely to distract riders on this awesome descent. The ride begins with a pickup from Hobart hotels before we drive to the Springs - part way up Mt Wellington. From here we unload the bikes and begin the first of a number of trips down the trail for the day. The ride starts straight up with plenty of great flowing single track as we traverse through the wet Eucalypt forest on stage one of the trail, which takes us through to Junction Cabin. This first section is mostly a traverse with a few small undulations. There are plenty of alternative options along the way with Black Diamond rated log rolls, drop offs and jumps. Those wishing to stay in one piece can easily avoid these. From the cabin a faster downhill section begins where the grin on your face will match the quality of the track, absolutely huge!!!! We wind our way down through the open eucalypt forest past well constructed berms, an amazing rock bridge and more single track before we emerge at the Glenorchy Mt Bike Park where there is the option to try out the dual slalom, 4 Cross or Downhill tracks.

The ride that we are most famous for... and justifiably so...is mostly downhill (sorry, yes that was mostly!) so hold on and enjoy the ride. Our local guides will take you on one of the ultimate mountain bike descents possible in Tasmania with a total drop of 1050 vertical metres.Starting in the alpine Ski Village at 1450m, this awesome trip takes you down the spectacular Jacobs Ladder road before connecting to old four wheel drive tracks through the eucaplypt forests. There is also a fantastic single-track section, part of the annual Ben Lomond Descent multi-sport race. We then continue on fire trails and other single tracks to our finishing point on the Blessington Road at 400m.
