An insider's introduction to Tulum
You will ride quiet roads, forest trails & pueblo streets to see a variety of the natural attractions and local life that characterize Tulum.
The perfect way to explore is by bike, where we take you all over town making many stops full of culture & history - taking in a full historical tour of the ancient Mayan temples, a swim in the wonderful waters of a cenote, the tastiest tacos, the local heart of the village & the cosmopolitan town of today. You will also learn about Mayan traditions & beliefs, the art of native beekeeping and lots of other interesting tales of past & present.
We start the day early to arrive at the ruins before the crowds and take in the stunning views of the ocean & temples. Tulum is a 'must see' because of its amazing location, but having an expert guide you through the site makes a huge difference in understanding the motivations and reasons behind the structures and their exact location. Their are many eye-opening secrets behind Tulum's walls!
We then bike back into town for a tasty brunch of delicious tacos & fresh juice. Cycle through the streets of town to see how the locals live, get tips from your guide for where to sip coffee, eat, drink & dance or shop. At the far end of town we stop at a native Mayan bee farm, part of a foundation that works to re-introduce the harvesting of this bee's honey into the local economy. This is a surprising and enriching experience, made possible by the fact that the bees are stingless and very calm, posing no danger to us.
Finally, we will hit one of the local cenotes for a refreshing and well deserved swim! A great way to cool off, have some fun with jumps and swim in the restoring blue waters.
The tour is designed so that all can enjoy, with intervals of max. 20 minutes cycling on a comfortable urban bike between each stop. This is an insider's view of tulum, led by experienced & dedicated guides who share their love of nature, history & fun with you.

Welcome to the jungle
This is a magical tour that takes you into the forests, cenotes & cornfields of the Mayan villages of Yucatan.
You will meet real sustainable communities that have been living off the land for generations, growing their own food and using the natural resources of the jungle to build their homes.
The setting is the lush forest of Punta Laguna: a jungle wildlife reserve inhabited by abundant fauna of the region: monkeys, deer, coati, birds, reptiles, insects, felines and much more. The jungle is full of life and the sounds of nature lead you into the heart of this vibrant ecosystem.
We meet rural communities who are working to protect their environment & culture, who lead us through the jungle searching for wildlife and teach us about medicinal plants & herbology, native beekeeping and the history of their families. The bikes allow us to move at a natural pace through the green backroads, taking in the landscape & the peace of this rural area.
We will visit a beautifully tended cenote, where you can jump off high ledges or climb down to the refreshing water; hike through the jungle on the lookout for monkeys in Punta Laguna; paddle a canoe, zip-line & swim in the wonderful waters of the lake; enjoy a delicious home cooked organic meal made from home-grown ingredients; all the while connecting with the natural world and a people who live in harmony with it.

Adventure above and below the jungle
Discover the variety of caverns, underground rivers & open sinkholes that fill the Mayan forest around Tulum. Considered by the ancients as portals into the underworld, the cenotes are on of the major attractions of the region. This tour takes you to the most enigmatic cenotes of the area: Grand Cenote, Escondido and Cenote Cristal.
Filled with history and mystery, these fascinating spaces are home to the ancient remains of humans and animals going back to the Ice Age, as well as amazing rock formations, sections of underground rivers and the clearest water you are likely to swim in, ever! We will explore 3 different cenotes, each very different from the other, allowing you to get a feel for the variety that exist (there are thousands) and ride some great local trails on MTB.
Starting from downtown Tulum, we ride out to Grand Cenote, one of the most famous cenotes in the area for its amazing combination of cave, underground river, open sections and resident wildlife turtles. This is great spot for some cenote snorkeling, and even though it is well known, we make sure to get there early before the crowds arrive to fully appreciate the beauty.
We then hit 4km of forest trail taking us around Tulum, where we get away from the roads and into the trees. This is highly enjoyable with no traffic and the possibility of seeing some jungle wildlife if we get lucky. We will stop on this trail to enjoy a homemade brunch in an exclusive jungle oasis: a little guesthouse hidden away in the peace of nature, where we are served fresh fruit, coffee, gourmet sandwiches and juice in a beautiful & tranquil environment.
After brunch & time to relax, the trail brings us out to Cenote Cristal, an open cenote surrounded by lush vegetation, where there is a perfectly placed platform for jumps & you can usually spot divers entering the cave system into the flooded Underworld.
From here it is a short trip to Escondido, a quiet cenote that is great for snorkeling, full of fish and underwater vegetation, plus a couple of hidden caves for the more adventurous.
Led by expert guides, this is a great means to have an active adventure around Tulum, stopping to swim, snorkel and have a whole lot of fun while riding quality bikes through the jungle. You will also learn a lot about the local environment and how the cenotes formed, as well as their importance throughout the millenia to all the residents of the Yucatan peninsula.
