Cycling Trip on the Namdal Coast

This five-day guided tour explores the Namdal coast of central Norway, an island-dotted region of fjords, farmland and unusual geology. Riders cycle from Steinkjer to Namsos, home to the Rock City exhibition on Trønder rock music, before taking an express boat to the peaceful island of Jøa.

The route continues by boat and bike to the coastal town of Rørvik. From there, a boat trip leads to Leka, Norway's geological national monument, for a ride around the island's red and yellow mountains. A final boat excursion visits the historic Sør-Gjæslingan archipelago, with lunch on the shore.

Riders cycle at their own pace on stages of 30 to 54 km, while a guide handles luggage transport and roadside support. Accommodation is in hotels and guest houses, with a hybrid bike included.

Surface and terrain:
Sealed asphalt roads with light, low-stress traffic. Terrain is gently rolling coastal and island riding, with roughly 170 to 350 m of ascent per day. Boat transfers connect several stages. E-bikes are available.

Cool, changeable summer conditions. July averages around 20°C and August around 18°C, with light winds and a higher chance of rain.

Suitable for:
Leisure-level riders who enjoy short daily stages, culture and coastal scenery. The tour is guided but self-paced, with a support vehicle if riders want a break. Described as intermediate difficulty, and previous cycling experience is helpful.
