British & Continental Cycling Tours
They are a family-run company whose sole aim is to provide you with a great cycling holiday. Many of their riders return year after year, but they still strive to do the very best they can.
Our aim is to provide a personal service that the larger operators simply cannot; and because we specialise in France, we know our oignons - indeed, half of us is French!
Each route is carefully planned to offer you pleasant stops at coffee and lunch time and to arrive mid afternoon at your daily destination which is generally a small town or village of note; enough exercise to enjoy that fabulous French food and enough time to soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful and varied country.
We don’t just do our homework on the bike, but off it too. You will receive a detailed Green Jersey route book before your trip with directions, notes of interest and facts about the things you’ll see along the way to enhance your holiday experience. We stay in family-run hotels wherever possible and enjoy local cuisine and wines. We leave nothing to chance with French-speaking guides accompanying every trip to make sure your holiday goes with a swing.

Provence occupies a special place in the heart for all who have visited it.
Our route is carefully formulated along the gentlest sections, although there are one or two hills up to the perched villages. However these are well worth it for the excuse to relax and enjoy the view with a coffee or glass of wine. Ever present are the famous vineyards of the Cotes du Rhone, including Chateauneuf du Pape, and the area is also a big producer of olive oil. The climate is excellent and outside of high summer makes for wonderful cycling, also extending the opportunity for cycling early and late in the year. This is a tour well within the grasp of all cyclists.

Ride from glamorous La Rochelle on the Atlantic Coast to Perpignan on the sandy Mediterranean
Discover some of France's most beautiful regions as we showcase quiet roads and pretty villages.
We could probably best describe this new ride as a meander through some of France’s most lovely and historic countryside. Joining the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, you will ride along quiet roads (as is our custom at Green Jersey) and no day exceeds 60 miles – most are nearer the 50 mile mark. There will be plenty of time and things to stop and see along the way, and ample time for coffee and lunch whilst still arriving in plenty of time to explore the evening’s destination.
Highlights include:
Glamorous La Rochelle with its famous harbour
Brouage citadel
Cognac country
Sunflower fields
Ancient walled 'bastide' villages
Three Musketeers' country
Amazing Carcassonne
Canal du Midi
Cathar Fortresses
Fantastic local food and wine
Chateaux and cathedrals
A dip in the Mediterranean when you finish!

Enjoy a tour of the champagne vineyards!
There are some hills in the region, but the daily distances are at our lower end of 40 - 55 miles per day so there is plenty of time to soak up the landscape whilst enjoying a relaxed pace. Our usual formula of comfortable hotels, full back-up and luggage transfers, refreshment stops, and the quietest roads possible will make for a memorable cycling holiday in Champagne. Reims is a wonderful city and it would be well worth adding a day at the beginning or end of your tour, which we will be glad to do on request.

A wonderful tour of the Scottish highlands and islands with a new breathtaking view around every corner in this area well known for its natural beauty
The terrain is manageable to all, with gradual climbs and longer flat sections through glens with towering moutains to the sides or along waterfront roads. Some of our route incorporates sections of the North Coast 500 but we have mostly avoided this due to the amount of non human-powered traffic on it. Instead, we have concentrated on quieter areas which have stunning views and great Scottish hospitality. This tour is a wonderful opportunity for friends and family of mixed abilities to enjoy a cycling tour together, with two days having a choice of distance, and an optional climb of the Bealach na Bà (Applecross Pass) - surely one of the most beautiful roads in Britain with stupendous views at the top over to Skye. Five ferry crossings are included as we pass from mainland to island back and forth several times; not only an excuse for a rest but also a fine opportunity to partake in some dolphin, seal or bird watching, to take some photographs or to begin to understand the remote communities we visit.
In common with our other UK tours this tour is on a bed and breakfast basis in our hotels leaving you free to choose your own evening meal - we will of course let you know the options. Most people opt to eat with the other riders but this arrangement allows you the flexibility to have as much or as little as you choose.
A real feast of cycling and countryside in an area which should be experienced at least once by every cyclist.

Tour the land of dragons, male voice choirs, lakes, mountains, rugby and mediaeval castles
Not to mention the countryside that produced Wales' most famous cyclist, Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas!
A moderately challenging but fantastic tour of Wales with all of its wonderful scenery and diversity. Experience the beauty of the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia, the West and Pembrokeshire coastlines, historic castles and unchanged villages. This is a wonderful tour made all the more special by the lovely warm welcome afforded by the inhabitants of Wales as you ride in an anti-clockwise clockwise loop around the country in 7 days.
As with all of our UK tours this holiday is sold on a bed and breakfast basis with accommodation in good quality hotels and inns. This allows you freedom to choose when and what to eat in the evening. We find that riders still tend to eat together but this option gives them greater flexibility.

Wales' highest road, the Gospel Pass and breathtaking views at the top
The north Welsh castles of Edward I at Conwy, Caenarfon and Harlech, World Heritage Sites.

Historic Alsace and the unspoilt Vosges mountains; perfect partners for a week of food and exercise.
This tour is a mixture of picture postcard villages on the Rhine plain, and some days spent in this beautiful area. You may see the grape harvest or the turning of the leaves in the forests and on the vines, both marvellous sights. Highlights include:
Virtually no traffic
Varied landscape with some hilly days
Fabulous views of the Rhine plain and Vosges
Mediaeval castles dotted along the route
Hearty food and local beer and wine

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the famous Oberammergau Passion Play
Taking time to enjoy the journey and to savour the experience. Our route passes many interesting and historic places in France and Germany and is truly a voyage of discovery.
Every ten years since 1634 the inhabitants of this small Bavarian village have performed a Passion Play, based around the events surrounding the death of Christ, to give thanks for being spared from the Black Death. The whole village is involved and the participants must all have been born in Oberammergau - but this is far from an amateur production, rather one of the highest quality. We rode this route in 2010, the last time the play was performed. Whether you wish to visit for religious reasons, or to see one the most historic cultural events in Europe, or to re-create the happenings in Jerome K Jerome's 'Three Men on a Pilgrimage', this is an event you will always remember. The route takes you north of Paris then across France to the southern Vosges, via Verdun, and into Germany passing the source of the Danube, Lake Constance and finally to the little village near the famous ski resort of Garmsich-Partenkirken. A true journey giving a real reason to travel. Not to be missed, this is why travel was invented!

The Ypres Salient was scene of some of the bloodiest fighting in World War One. Here we look in depth at the north and south sections of the salient, and the area behind the lines, to gain an insight into this fascinating area.
This tour is based in Ypres and we make daily round trip cycle rides from our comfortable family run hotel which is close to the Menin Gate and the Grote Markt. Ypres is a lovely town and it is hard to believe it was completely rebuilt following the war, during which it was obliterated. The Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate is an event not to be missed. It is a simple yet extremely moving event; so much so that everyone on our trips returns every night.
NOTE: On this centre-based tour there is not a support vehicle as we ride with you on our daily excursions from Ypres around the Salient.

A week long taster of these two adjoining regions, each with a distinct personality
Beaches, seafood, apples and cream. Forests, lush countryside and a relaxed way of life. This tour is a combination of our Normandy Discovery and Brittany Explorer holidays. 9 days' cycling; 8 nights' half board; luggage transport, full back-up and assistance throughout the day.
This nine day tour aims to give a flavour of the north west of France, with its proud heritage and history. Whilst geographically adjacent, the two regions have very distinct identities. Brittany occupies a peninsular jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean and due to this is a seafaring area. It has wonderful beaches and pretty harbours. The interior used to be one massive forest, of which remnants remain, and throughout Brittany history and legend combine to make it a fascinating destination. It is well geared up for the cycle tourist.
Normandy is a lush and verdant landscape where agriculture is at its heart, particularly apple orchards for the production of cider and calvados, and cattle, used for beef and for making some of the world’s most famous cheeses. Normandy has a large number of impressive chateaux and manor houses and some historic villages. It is a place to come and enjoy the countryside and soak in the atmosphere, not unlike the British west country.
