Cycle Korea's legendary Four Rivers route — at your own pace

On this self-guided adventure, you're in charge — no rigid schedules, no rush, just open roads, hot springs and a country that feeds you embarrassingly well at every turn. Ride Korea's legendary Four Rivers cycling route from Seoul to Andong: past misty mountains, glassy rivers, ancient royal tombs and rice paddies so green they don't look real. With your luggage whisked ahead, comfortable hotels and two nights in traditional hanok stays along the way, and our guide-in-your-pocket app keeping you on track, all you have to do is pedal, eat and soak it all in.

Tour highlights

  • Ride the legendary Four Rivers cycling route on wonderfully well-marked bike paths
  • Feast on BBQ, bubbling stews and convenience store snacks worth writing home about
  • Soak your legs in steaming hot springs and open-air foot spas with the locals
  • Stay in traditional hanok homestays beside rivers, mountains and historic villages
  • Explore Andong Hahoe Folk Village, a UNESCO-listed slice of old Korea frozen in time
  • Cross suspension bridges, forested hills and the dramatic Saejae mountain route

This tour is Riding Level 3, which means you can expect to cycle an average of 30 mi (48 km) per day — and usually no more than around 45 mi (72 km) — with occasional breaks to soak up the sights. The terrain is more varied, with some uphill climbs, so you’ll need to be generally fit if you’re on a standard bike.

In South Korea, you’re in for a smooth ride — most of this route is paved, following dedicated cycling paths, quiet rural lanes and riverside bike paths through some of the country's most beautiful countryside, covering roughly 202 mi (325 km) in total.
