Ride, wine and dine in the delectable Douro Valley

Pedal through Portugal’s picturesque heartland on a journey filled with history, vino and just the right amount of fun under the sun. Cycle from Coimbra through centuries-old olive groves and medieval trails, leading to the Douro Valley — home to some of the world’s oldest wine traditions. Along the way, indulge in farm-fresh produce bursting with local flavors and cruise the Douro River past vineyards and rustic villages. Six days of adventuring (and eating...) never looked so good!

Your adventure kicks off in Coimbra, a city straight out of a Harry Potter book. A quick train ride from Porto or Lisbon, its historic charm sets the stage for your journey.

Pedal your way from the tranquil Zorro River Beach to the storybook village of Aguieira. As you cruise along the Ecopista do Dão, where trains once carried Portugal's treasures, you'll be gliding through rolling hills and lush greenery that beg for a few photos — and maybe a snack break, or three.

The scenery? Oh, it’ll leave you breathless — in the best way possible. We'll lace up our hiking boots for the Rota de S. João de Jerusalém route, where medieval charm and panoramic views collide. And just when you think it couldn’t get any better, the Douro Valley rolls in with its centuries-old vineyards — because what’s a Portuguese journey without a few wines to sample?

Indulge in feasts where good food and great wine prove that the Portuguese truly know what life is about. With your expert Tour Leader — who knows all the best spots — you’ll savor everything from Portugal’s famous custard tarts to freshly grilled sardines and zesty piri-piri chicken. Trust us, you’ll want to enjoy every bite — maybe even twice!

As the sun tips its hat goodbye, we've rounded up the comfiest hotels for some chill time on your terms. Whether you're in the mood to float serenely in the pool, lose yourself in the pages of your favorite novel, or rally your newfound friends for a game of cards, the evenings are yours to unwind, your way.

Portugal isn’t just a destination; it’s an adventure that stays with you l-o-n-g after the ride ends.

This tour is Riding Level 3, which means you can expect to cycle an average of 50 km (31 mi) per day — and usually no more than around 65 km (40 mi) — with occasional breaks to soak up the sights. The terrain is more varied, with some uphill climbs, so you’ll need to be generally fit if you’re on a standard bike.
In Portugal, expect a smooth ride on mostly paved roads through charming landscapes and gentle hills, adding just the right touch of challenge to our journey!
