Nine nights; nine days. Easy cycling on flat, mostly paved roads and traffic-free bike paths through coastal landscapes, romantic towns, and historical sites.
The recently established Kattegattleden, Sweden’s first national bicycle route, is a 395 km long stretch between Helsingborg in the south and Gothenburg in the north, running through the province of Halland. Taking its name from the Kattegat sea along which the route travels, the path boasts an abundance of services and memorable sites.
The tour begins in the cycling capital of the world, Copenhagen, where you will explore the lovely nature preserve at Amager Island before crossing over to Sweden by ferry to embark on the Kattegattleden journey. The proximity to the coast ensures that swimming opportunities are plentiful, as are views of fishing villages, nature reserves, and charming towns. You will pass a number of historical monuments and interesting destinations that are all well worth a visit, including several Iron Age burial sites, a Tudor castle, and the artists’ haven of √Ñngelholm. Cozy caf√©s with excellent coffee and danishes abound, and the evolving landscapes beg to be captured by photo.
See for yourself why Kattegattleden was named Europe’s Best Cycling Route in 2018!
