Many visitors to Dublin miss one of its finest features—the stunning coastline.
Our cycling tour takes you along the picturesque southeast coast and into the breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and captivating folklore of the Wicklow Mountains.
The journey begins along the coast from the harbour town of Dún Laoghaire, just outside Dublin. You’ll pass through the charming village of Dalkey, known for its many celebrity residents, and continue towards the stunning Killiney Bay, often compared to the Bay of Naples for its dramatic beauty. Your first day concludes in the quaint village of Enniskerry, nestled at the gateway to the Wicklow Mountains.
The second day takes you deep into the heart of the Wicklow Mountains, often called the “Garden of Ireland.” This region is famed for its rugged glens, lush woodlands, serene lakes, and dramatic valleys. Wicklow’s true charm lies in its unspoilt natural beauty, where every turn reveals a new scene of tranquillity and grandeur.
You’ll spend two nights in Laragh, located near the ancient monastic settlement of Glendalough, renowned for its atmospheric round tower and abbey ruins. This is the perfect place to unwind and soak up the peaceful surroundings. Explore the scenic walking trails that wind around the area’s beautiful lakes, offering incredible opportunities for photography and reflection.
From Laragh, the tour continues over the mountains to Glenmalure, an area rich in history and natural beauty, before arriving in the charming village of Woodenbridge. This idyllic setting is an ideal spot to rest before heading towards Wicklow Town, a historic harbour town with a lively atmosphere.
On the final day, the route leads inland, showcasing more of County Wicklow’s spectacular landscapes before returning to Dún Laoghaire. Conclude your cycling adventure with a final evening in Dublin, a city brimming with culture, history, and vibrant energy.
Roads are tarmacked and the route has been created specifically to give you a quiet back road experience. There are some steeper climbs, we do recommend doing some training before your trip to get used to these.
