Cycle across the vast expanse of the Mongolian steppeland

Mongolia remains a mysterious presence in the heart of Central Asia, a traditional country where visitors are still an unusual sight. Nomads wander the grasslands, setting up their white gers (tents) where the pasture is lush for their horses. On our bikes, we follow good trails across wide, open steppe, into expansive mountain scenery and through larch and pine forests. Camping wild under the wide skies adds an adventurous edge to what is certainly one of our most intrepid cycle tours.

Highlights

  • Variety of landscapes as we cycle through open steppe and larch and pine forests
  • A visit to Erden Zuu Monastery and Genghis Khan's ancient capital
  • Wild camping and overnight at hot springs

Low altitude; 100% good quality dirt tracks.

This tour was really well run, our tour Leader Jose along with the driver and support men Osso and Jose Luis were just great people to have. We had a 17 person group made up of 8 British, 5 NZ 1 German and 3 Oz, experience went from very good to hardly any. The riding was challenging on most stages and all riders completed the tour without serious injury or getting in the bus. We rode through some beautiful country side and towns and villages. Jose ensured we were well educated on the revolution visiting many important sites and memorials, we also saw the mountains and the coast. There was some of the best snorkelling I have ever experienced in Trinidad. The weather was temeprate reaching on some days a max of 33c to a low of 22c, over all a great ride with great locations and country to ride thru, on the flats with a head wind were the hardest. All up good fun.
