Lofoten Cycling Tour

This self-guided, eight-day tour explores the Lofoten Islands by bike, from Svolvær to Reine. The route passes fishing villages, beaches, fjords and dramatic mountain scenery, using quieter roads where possible, with luggage transferred between stays.

Riders visit well-known places such as Henningsvær, Hov, Nusfjord and Reine, with a bicycle ferry from Kremmervika on the final riding day. Accommodation varies between hotels, lodges and traditional fishermen's rorbu cabins in Reine. Three free days allow extra rides, hiking, kayaking, fishing or a RIB safari to Trollfjorden.

Parts of the route follow the Norwegian Scenic Route Lofoten, National Cycle Route 1 and EuroVelo 1. The tour suits riders who want to explore at their own pace, with the midnight sun in early summer and crisp light in late summer.

Surface and terrain:

Early summer brings long days and midnight sun (busiest June to mid-July). Late August and September bring crisp air, changing colours, darker nights and possible Northern Lights.

Suitable for:
Riders after a relaxed, flexible island tour with modest core distances and optional extra rides. Comfortable navigating with an app and tracks. Rated moderate.
