A self-guided fjord and mountain cycling adventure through Geiranger, Valldal and Trollstigen.
This self-guided, seven-day tour crosses Norway's fjord country from Ålesund to Åndalsnes, linking the Sunnmøre Alps, the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord and the famous Trollstigen mountain road. Riders cycle beside Hjørundfjorden and through the narrow Norangsdalen valley, with luggage transferred between stays.
A scenic fjord cruise from Hellesylt to Geiranger passes the Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil waterfalls. From Geiranger the route climbs the eleven hairpin bends of Ørnevegen (Eagle Road), crosses by ferry to Valldal, then tackles the long ascent of Trollstigen before descending to Åndalsnes.
Daily distances are short, but the climbing is steep and demanding, so good fitness is recommended. A free day in Åndalsnes offers hiking, via ferrata and cable car options before the tour ends.

Surface and terrain:
Hilly to mountainous, with daily ascents of about 630 to 1,000 m. Key climbs are Ørnevegen and Trollstigen, and Trollstigen's descent can have traffic. Low-traffic riding along Hjørundfjorden, with ferry crossings at Solavågen and Eidsdal. Parts follow a Norwegian Scenic Route.
Suitable for:
Fit, experienced riders comfortable with sustained mountain climbing. Daily distances are short (30 to 36 km) but steep, and the page rates the tour challenging. A good level of fitness and mountain riding experience is recommended.
