Coyhaique to Caleta Tortel (450 km) - From the city of Coyhaique, we will start the southernmost cycling section of Route 7, in the middle of a landscape of mountains, Patagonian steppe, and northern ice fields, with weather conditions that can be adverse. We will ride through Cerro Castillo National Park, bordering the turquoise colors of the second-largest lake in South America, Lake General Carrera, in the town of Puerto Tranquilo.
We will sail in the middle of the Marble Chapels; it will be possible to add adventure by rafting on the Baker River in Puerto Bertrand, and we will enter Patagonia National Park in Cochrane, the largest donation of land for conservation in the world to the government of Chile. Part of these forests of Patagonia can absorb three times more carbon per hectare than the Amazon. Finally, we will learn the secret of the Ñadis, discover the mythical village of the footbridges in Caleta Tortel, and start our way back to Balmaceda Airport.
