Challenging Ride Through Undiscovered Central China
This challenging bicycle trip features a unique mixture of seeing some of China's most well-known spots and cities as well as discovering the non-touristy Chinese hinterland on two wheels. We are a small tour operator specialised in cycling tours in China - everyone of our staff has spent time living in the Middle Kingdom and will be dedicated to share their enthusiasm for the country and its people with you! This tour represents what our company stands for - an unfiltered China-experience, an original route and as much time as possible spend on the bike rather than in cars and buses. On a typical day spent on the bike you will reach the destination in the afternoon, take a shower and then have the rest of the day to explore bustling markets, watch the daily dance routines on the city square and experience everyday-life in the typical Chinese town together with your tour guide. A day of cycling will make you hungry - so you will surely want to try some of the delicous Central Chinese dishes in a one of the local restaurants! Framed by visits to Beijing and Shanghai, you will have the opportunity to climb the Great Wall, see Xi'an and the Terracotta Warriors and then spend two weeks cycling over 1000 km through the stunning and undiscovered mountains of Central China - all the way to the famous Yangzi and its Three Gorges. In a small group, you will cycle on paved roads through mostly mountainous terrain. Cycling experience is needed as some of the stages are longer than 100 km and include longer climbs. Luggage transfer, a support car and a dedicated and enthusiastic guide will make sure that you will fully enjoy your ride! The bicycle rent is included. Further highlights on this tour include a climb to the beautiful peaks of the Daoist Mount Hua, strolls through the old towns of Manchuan and Shuhe, a river cruise on the River Daning as well as a visit to the Three Gorges Dam. We cycle off the beaten tracks of mass tourism and discover the rough beauty of provincial China as well as the fascinating waterway culture along the country's longest river. The cycling tour will be framed by a three-day stay in the capital Beijing at the beginning and a visit to Shanghai, China's 'secret capital' at the end.
