It takes you through many attractive areas in the Guadarrama mountain range recently declared a national reserve park. Stopping at Miraflores de la Sierra then pausing close to the 13th century monastery at Rascafria and shortly after at the mediaeval village of Pedraza.

You enter Segovia under a superbly preserved Roman aqueduct and make your way up to the beautiful sandstone cathedral and on to the Alcazar, a castle-fortress, of fairy tale appearence. The following day takes us to the Palace of La Granja de San de Ildefonso, once a summer residence for the Bourbon kings. San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a world heritage monastary. Your cycling trip ends in Spain’s magnificent capital where you’ll enjoy the intensity and liveliness of a modern metropolis filled with art galleries and museums.
